Drivers went free before they should have

Hello, I've had quite a big problem. My 2 drivers were about to end their contracts: 2 races left. So I was waiting for one more race to renew them. To my surprise, after one race they were gone, and in their place I had two level 1 drivers. I kind of panicked and looked for them, and I could find them and even re-contract one of them for almost 11 milions and 3 tokens. I cannot contract the other one because he is one level above me.

This has been quite an inconvenient... is there any way for me to get him back?
