Can somebody give me a genuinely good reason as to why this is a thing?

To prevent people getting a 100% car (in big four) in Turkey iGP, leaving League and join ours that is just starting a new season.

I just don't know why "the governing body" always lacks in giving points to balance the cars.

IMO most people move for genuine reasons, the race times become inconvenient or maybe they just want to move to a more active league.
A fairer solution which would allow genuine movers to be competitive but deter league hoppers would be to reset the car back to Australia design.
If you join a different league at the start of the season you are going to be competitive straight away but if you move mid season your car will reset to your Australia design and as a result will be less competitive because the remainder of the league will have had a number of races to improve their design.
The later in the season you join, the more uncompetitive you will be.
Design reset has been a contentious issue for over a year but I haven't seen any posts from the devs to indicate they may be prepared to change it.

Edit... Oh and BTW, get rid of the second season design bug which has also caused a lot of strife LOL

I've joined a league with 3 races left a few days ago, was given 200 design points. Got relegated.

Now i'm not really arsed about the relegation, but there must be a way to balance this out better. It gives me no incentive to join a league that suits me if there's only a handful of races left in the season. I already can't really be bothered to play this game anymore as it is but to rub it in even more, my car is full of 8's for the new season.

It has to be made more obvious that joining leagues at the start of seasons is better than joining mid or near the end of the season imo. The game really isn't that bad once you get past the design point issue, I'm sure one more season should get your dp back to what they used to be

Why should I have to wait 3-6 weeks to be able to enjoy the game? Hardly ideal is it

I'm sorry Chris, this sucks to hear. I'm surprised a moderator hasn't come to potentially "re-promote" you or somehow remove the ballast. It's up to you whether you want to leave, endure the pain, start a new career in iGP or something else you were thinking of

I'm absolutely fine being in pro, the second season rubbish car issue is my main gripe. And the first season actually. I haven't said this to get sympathy but I am yet to hear any reason as to why it still exists. In old IGP people could deliberately leave one race before the end of the season with their 100% car and join a new league at the start of their season with their car still 100%. I understand needing to fix that. But there needs to be a balance. Even if it was like 1% worse than the worst car on the grid supposing that that team isn't completely cut off from the rest in terms of car performance.

I joined a league a few months ago at Monaco and had to wait one and a half seasons to be competitive (from Aus that is. 2nd season started with a rubbish car but kinda levelled out around Belgium/Italy). No reason whatsoever to bother showing up for a month. I imagine a high percentage of people in this situation haven't bothered logging in since. Any game that (indirectly) encourages a player not to bother showing up for a month is doing something wrong.

You made me laugh with this, as I'm also going through something similar with one of my other teams and it feels like the game is doing it's very best to take the enjoyment out of the game.  I completely agree with you Chris and in my opinion it makes absolutely no sense to be affected in the 2nd season.  The thing that puzzles me the most is that teams who complete a full season in a league and then leave that league to either take a break or join another league are also punished.

Now I would love to know why if you complete a full season should the game punish you by giving you 100 design points and haveing your car completely reset to 1 point.  Makes much more sense as you say, to start the car as it would have at the beginning of the season and go from there.  The mechanics for this is definitely wrong.

So whats the progress here

My advice is don't hold your breath.
It's been this way for as long as I can remember and despite many grumbles all that has happened is to remove the financial penalty. For me the financial penalty was always a secondary issue, my main concern is two seasons to get back to where you were before swapping leagues and six months to regain the rep points you've lost whilst running around a lap behind the leaders.

Trust me i'm not, I would have just thought they'd be more concerned about losing players than players moaning it costs igp money to leave leagues. I must be missing something

Lovely guys. I'll try and remember if I ever find the motivation to play this game again I need to hold that desire for 4+ weeks to get any enjoyment from it whatsoever.

I don't understand why we can't at least get a car comparable to the weakest in the league. I'm struggling to keep up with the inactive managers that have not even set up their cars. I started 3 races in and got 30 points. That's less than what I could have had if only I got what I would have had if I started out with a car with all 1's and got my research points.

Because the people who run this game live on another planet.

I had to switch leagues last week because suddenly I was the only one left so the races were cancelled.

In my opinion the problem is more obvious considering leagues running only one day in a week (I am host in a league like that) where every season lasts 4 months and not two weeks as in leagues running every day. The result is that we have, at the moment, two different elite leagues: 4 old members always in first 8 positions and new members fighting every race for 9th place. New members who joined last month have to wait until July to see if something changes.
