When does qualifying happen?

I’ve noticed in strategy that the start compound and qualifying compound are the same. 
What if I wanted to qualify using 1 type and using another compound for the race?

Kevin is correct, the only time you may start on a different tire to what you qualified on is because of rain. I have had where I qualified on dry tires but started the race on wet tires.
