Hi all,
Is the lower age of a driver better than the Experience stat of a driver?
I've got two drivers who are the same in every stat (maxed out)... the Younger (Age 21, 13 Exp) has less Experience. The Older (Age 26, 18 Exp) has much more Experience.
However since they've now maxed on training, the younger driver is outperforming the other.
Is this a 'thing' with a benefit of Younger Age? Or just chance on the current season?

Usually Talent (that can't be trained for) is what matters the most.
If both drivers are equally talented how about checking their weights? maybe the older guy needs some physical training to shed of the extra weight!! ;)

To repeat myself for clarity, they are the same in every stat... 20 in Talent / Fast corners / slow corners / defending / attacking / composure / focus / morale / knowledge / stamina & also 51kg (lowest male weight).
If only drivers put on middle age spread like the rest of us, it could very well have been that ;)
The only other difference is height... Younger is 6'2, Older is 5'6, which does affect their ideal Ride Height by 3 on every race. Could a taller driver, causing a lower ride car, be giving an edge somehow?

Well a lower ride height gives you a lower Drag force, that's the force that counters the car movement in high speed (mainly in straights/straight lines). That's because there is less air for the car to "penetrate" while it's moving quickly.
So yeah a lower car height means more speed, specially on the straights. Of course that's true for real life F1 cars. Not sure how it works for the in-game car though. But it seems that's the only logical explanation to your case.

I have been playing this game for a few years and like you I have often pondered what is the ideal driver. I have come to the conclusion that there are too many variables and every time you think you have it nailed (I was also testing height) along comes a driver who goes against the rule you think you have discovered.
There are two theories that may answer the question. Both are just theories and have never been confirmed by a developer who after all are the only people who actually know what makes a driver great:
1) Talent is a decimal and may even be a multiplier of other attributes. When I say decimal I mean all Talent 20 drivers are not equal, talent may range between 19.1 and 20 but all of the values between 19.1 and 20 are displayed as 20.
2) There are hidden attributes which affect the performance of the drivers.

I also have some theory, or rather suspicion because of lack of tests or even proofs and thus it could be complete bullshit.
Drivers, like tracks, do have a preference how the cars design attributes are balanced between each other, maybe based on an attribute of the driver like height or maybe something hidden. This could explain how a driver is championship material in one team and completely fails in another team, or sudden lows in a drivers performance compared to his team mate. Also how some drivers seem to like certain tracks better than their teammate, tracks also prefer slightly different builds after all and if it mostly matches the one of the driver and the car roughly fits too those bonuses might boost each other slightly. But as said, just an idea.

Thanks all! At least it's not just me that's pondered it and not found any concrete answers :-)
