My practice times last season level 12 at Spain were Andretti 1.17.8 & Hill 1.179. This season I'm a level higher and my car significantly better but my times, level 13, this season were Andretti 1.18.7 & Hill 1.18.6. Why is this? Does the time of day and therefore the temperature add a second difference? I can't remember what the weather was like last season. That's the only reason i can find right now. Any stats on performance vs temp?

Hello Luke,

How about the health of the drivers when they did the laps? Have you used the same tyre compound for both runs (last season vs this season)? Maybe it was raining this time? Have you found the ideal setup for each driver in this season's runs? Have you improved the Focus attribute for your drivers?

There are a lot of variables in testing/practice laps that you need to take into consideration to determine "what went wrong?"

Luke, I've also been puzzling over times. I have a little more data than you and although the temperatures are a little higher than last season I can't understand why there's such a large difference in lap and race times. Personally I suspect something has changed behind the scenes.

British iGP
4th June – Temperature 13 degrees
Best qualifying times:
Super soft – 1:18.358
Soft – 1:19.202
Hard – 1:19.922
Overall race time – 39:49.515

23rd June – Temperature 19 degrees
Best qualifying times:
Super soft – 1:19.206 (+ 0.848 secs)
Soft – 1:20.041 (+ 0.839 secs)
Hard – 1:20.879 (+ 0.957 secs)
Overall race time – 40:17.172 (+ 27.657 secs)

German iGP
5th June – Temperature 16 degrees
Best qualifying times:
Super soft – 1:27.660
Soft – 1:28.405
Hard – 1:29.412
Overall race time – 44:25.277

24th June – Temperature 17 degrees
Best qualifying times:
Super soft – 1:28.386 (+ 0.726 secs)
Soft – 1:29.446 (+ 1.041 secs)
Hard – 1:30.161 (+ 0.749 secs)
Overall race time – 44:48.074 (+ 22.797 secs)

The temperature at Silverstone was 6 degrees higher this season but Germany was only one degree different. I'm really struggling to understand why the times are suddenly so much slower than the previous seasons.

Edit...
Also Hungary last night 9 degrees warmer than the season before last (last season it was raining) and the overall race time was about 45 seconds slower.

You're right. My training lap times are now consistent again, unlike last races when half the laps returned 'normal' times and the other half about one second slower, but now all times are about that second slower.

Track: Turkey iGP

For reference the old post about the inconsistent times (Spain):
Frank
I was wondering about this as well. For the races of this week my drivers delivered quite different times during practice as well. Almost as if there's two time tables (like for quite different temperature values) that are roughly one second apart and every lap randomly chooses one of them for its lap time.

For example today:
Rossini
SS 01:17.992
S 01:20.715
M 01:20.715
H 01:19.682
H 01:20.708

Lehto
SS 01:17.996
S 01:19.146
M 01:19.504
H 01:20.772
H 01:19.636

Good Evening,

We have temporarily suspended pulling new data from the weather stations until we can address the problems with the weather.
