I know this might not be a very popular idea for those who may be top contenders, but there is a good side to using cheap equipment. You get knocked down to a level where you can be more competitive. You can make massive gains on the top team. You will build up large amounts of cash.
What are some other pros and cons?

Could you elaborate more?

That's actually pointless. Of course it's important to have a positive balance of money and tokens, so you can keep upgrading your team, but that can be done anyway in a very competitive Elite tier against very competitive and skilled managers, you just have not to waste your money and tokens. There's no need to get relegated on purpose just to win the Pro league and save money, instead that's a very good way to stay behind. Cause you will need more seasons to get back to being competitive after promotion and also you will earn less XP points in a lower league, so that would slow your team developement, except for the rare case in which the higher level manager in the Pro tier is actually higher than the higher level in Elite. But I've never seen that. Getting relegated slows everything down and doing it on purpose doesn't seem very clever to me, cause you can still keep your money and tokens balance active even in a killer Elite tier. Trust me on this, cause that's just where I race.

Good point. A plan like this can backfire quickly.
Edit: I should add that the concept would be saving money on a rebuilding season instead of wasting resources on zero points. Also, I find winning on any level better than just racing on the elite level. Just a little bit of elaboration.

See we have a different view at IGP FMR. We prefer the competition than the win. Yes winners come and go all the time but what's the point if that's all you do where is the excitement the entertainment the driver to keep wanting to come back. For us we can finish outside the top 10 but still have the best race of the season because of the competitive nature of our league and the friendly and helpful environment we strive to create with every race. There is a reason our slogan is:
IGP FMR: The family home of Competitive Racing.
Because we are a. Family all of us. Yes we are in a competitive environment but isn't it the point of any online game to interact with others you wouldn't normally be able to get in touch with? Yes IGP is a game but more than that it's a way to meet like minded individuals and form a friendship to some degree. Not to boast if your better than anyone because you have a fast car or great driver. Just. Makes you look a little big headed in my opinion. Enjoy this fantastic game for what it is a game to interact with like minded people across the world in a virtual world of racing.

I used to do this when I joined a league mid-season. Then decided to try random stuff and see how well it worked.
