Design point cap

Hi all, I’m sure this has been asked 1000 times but search isn’t giving me a good answer, so here goes 1001 :)

I know the game has a 100 point cap, and any excess is wasted... but.....

Pro league has a design cap of 80 points. 
If I max research on Acc to 80, then buy the murk engine, will I have 90 Acc going into the race or 80 and a wasted engine bonus?

Wondering if near season end I should swap to different components once I max research.

there's no cap in Rookie or Pro (or there wasn't a few weeks ago) so your suppliers can make you go past 80 in Pro

There is a "soft cap"

In pro this is 80, but your suppliers will let you go above this.  I believe Rookie is 50.

I was wondering on maxing out the ACC then swapping to a fuel saving engine to something else to help those stats :)

Might stick with the speed for now
