In this race : http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=race-result/62268

My 2nd driver Melo decided not to pit even though before the end of the lap the pit sign went green.
I moved to do something else and by the time I came back I saw my 2nd driver crossing the pits without stopping !!!

I know he didn't have enough fuel to go to the end of the race, but by pitting in the last lap at least I would have reached my objective for this driver and earn the money I desperately need.

The reason I am asking this question is because in another race http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=race-result/62250 my driver decided to pit as he was in the lead and had enough fuel to finish the race... In the end I lost my chance to victory.

That has already been investigated and will be fixed in future. See here: http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=forum-thread/1387

I investigated this in the last hour and spoke to Andrew.
There was no logging why he had cancelled his pit stop.
We found out that the only reason why he cancelled his pit stop is that he didn't had enough time left. You were 27 seconds before the leader and we checked if the leader would finish his race before you could have done your pit stop. This is determined by the time you need to reach the finish line + 30 seconds which was too much and therefore your driver canceled the pit stop. We intended to prevent cars of finishing the race in the pit. But we now see that this doesn't make sense.
We already changed that behaviour and that won't happen in the future. We will log these decisions too in the future.

We feel sorry for you and hope that you now understand why this has happened.

A very interesting and reasoned answer - I hadn't realised the game was that 'intelligent'.
It might explain some of the other odd behaviour at the end of a race.

Thanks for the explanation.

Hi Nico,

Thanks a lot for your explanation. It is now clear why it has happened.

And like Jake said there are plenty of undocumented rules implemented in the games which can explain the driver's behavior.

Keep up the good work, I know what to do next time.

Just to add:
Pit stops which where called manually will never behave like that.
That counts only for automatic pit stops. So if you click on the button you will definetly drive into pits no matter how much the time difference to the leader is or something else.
