Jack and team,

An idea to make the game more immersive and have an advanced, more realistic feeling to the game when the chance will present itself.

Any chance we can broaden the setup options to the current ones we have?

Right now we have 3: wing, suspension, ride height, and they are pretty static currently.

Again, this is taking from my experience in playing MM...

How about having:

Front wing: Affects slow corner speeds of the car.
Example: Between option 20-30 degrees, with intervals of 0.1, giving you 100 options. Derived from the handling stat, the better this is, the wider the tolerance will be to achieve the ultimate setup in terms of % feedback rating from the race engineer. Say a driver goes out for a run on a setting of 10.0. He comes back and says, I need more front downforce. The engineer then says it’s 75% good. He then goes out for another run, now on setting 12.0.  The engineer then says it’s 90% good. So u getting closer. Driver says he needs a little more. Based on x value handling stat, the ultimate setup could range anywhere from 12.5 to 13.5. A 50 handling stat will give a range from 12.5 to 13.0 only. A 75 handling stat will give a range of 12.5 to 13.5 to get 100% feedback. This can also allow more variability season to season for setups, meaning u can have a good base setup every season but hardly ever the perfect setup from just 1 lap.

Suspension and ride height: Affects medium speed cornering speeds. Increase options to very soft, soft, neutral, stiff, very stiff, or, also a value from 0-50 or 100, with 100 options, making it more interesting. Should be derived from combination of the downforce and handling chassis stat, also using example above on how to nail the setup. Driver gives feedback in direction and engineer gives feedback on how good it is. With tolerance.

Rear wing: Affects high speed cornering speed.
Same example as from front wing. Say 10-20 degrees. Intervals of 0.1, 100 options. Derived from downforce chassis stat. Again with driver and engineer feedback.  With tolerance.

Gearing: 100 options, from full acceleration 0 to full on top end 100. Derived from acceleration chassis stat. Again feedback from driver for direction and engineer feedback.

Pressures and cambers: We should be able to slightly manipulate the current tyre economy stat with this. Aggressive cambers and pressures will mean slight performance gain, but lead to higher tyre wear, and vice versa. Engineer should give feedback on how this shifts the tyre wear % versus normal. This can help someone who has gone with a Tyre Economy Chief Designer and help them find performance at the start of the season as well.

Brake bias: Do a 40:60 to 60:40 range, or even bigger one.  The higher the Braking chassis stat, the wider the tolerance to nail the setup. Again, with driver and engineer feedback again.

We should be given perhaps more practice laps to do, making it fun to setup the car and deliver and more meaningful and engaging experience from doing practice.  I think with the above method you should be able to nail the setup after 3-4 runs anyway.

As a bonus, as from what I mentioned in the tyre thread, you can embed to also focus runs for qualifying and race and on the tyre compound u using. This in turn allows u to earn % bonus levels of data the more u focus on it, and have it applied accordingly in Q and R. It shouldn’t be a major game changer, should give u a small bonus only.

Say we stick to 5 laps only. You do a run on the soft Q focus. This will earn 1% additional speed to Q and to the soft when using it.  Another run will make it 2%. It then only leaves u 3 laps to now focus on Q again to move up the grid, or start focusing on R runs and earn bonuses for the race as well as another compound.

Added to that, the practice screen should also show in what conditions the lap was done on, weather icon and temp, and as well as the tyre temp gauge to show the temp levels of the tyre from that run, based on a neutral push.

Thanks again for all the recent improvements and changes the team have implemented recently.

I hear what you are saying and yes, but this is not this type of game, take a look at the thread the real problem with tires tell me what you think.
