So I am really new to this game. I am in a rookie leauge that runs 50% races. It's really active as far as rookie drivers. Every race we have between 6-8 active racers, which from what I have viewed is pretty good compared to other leagues that have anywhere between 1-3 active in race live drivers per race. So tonight we raced at Hungry which was 35. The 35 lapper had me thinking a bit. Usually the races I have ran so far (which has only been three. Like I said I'm really new) have been on an average of about 30 laps. So the extra five laps had me contemplating. On 30 lap or 28 lap races I usually run a one stop strategy H/H. While using that strategy has worked pretty good in my opinion with my lack of knowledge about this game I wasn't sure how good it would work tonight since there was an extra 5 laps compared to what I was generally used to. I normally pit once like I said around lap 17-18 refitting Hard Tyres. But like I said with my limited knowledge I did not know or I wasn't to comfortable running two stops at Hungry running 22-23 laps each stint on Hard Tyres. I like to keep a close eye ony Tyre temps and wear and I was unsure about putting that many laps on a set of Hands. I've never done it before.  So I decided to run a two stop race. To try to avoid looking a bunch or ground early in the first stint to the leaders (I have noticed that once the lead driver gets up front in clean air that he seems to drive away no matter what Tyre compound he is running) To try to avoid that I thought I will run a very short first stint on SS Tyres. That way I would be qualifing on SS Tyres as well. That way I had a chance to qualify first, get the advantage of running clean air and have 5 laps to build a gap on the pack before I put and fit on Hard Tyres for my 15 lap second stint. It worked great!!! All was well.... So I thought. I pitted, put on s fresh pair of Hands and off I went. This is where I first noticed there could be an issue with my strategy. I learned through lots of reading, and watching vids that on a fresh pair of tyres no matter what compound that I should push up to PL4 until the tyres reach the sweet spot as far as temp goes. These hard tyres for some reason did not want to heat up. So I upped the PL to PL5 and slowly but surely they got there. I closely managed the temps for the entire stint and by the time I had to pit for my second set of hards for the last 15 lap stint I was closing in on the leader (I lost the lead thru pit cycles) So I laced up the ride with a fresh set of hards upped the push Lvl to PL4 trying to get the tyres to optimal temp for optimal performance and left put road. This time it was even harder to get the temp up. I ended up having to run on PL5 FOR TWO AND A HALF LAPS!!! This really thru my FE all out of wack since I had to burn up so much fuel pushing to get me Tyre temps up. This was the first race I decided to calculate the fuel consumption with a calculator adding .5 for each stint. I used the numbers from practice did some math and went for it  It said I only had enough fuel for 33 laps during set-up but my math said otherwise. (Also during my research I seen it more than once where other players "Claimed" that a lower lever TD ALWAYS over bids how much fuel we actually need) So I thought what the hell my math is correct and I learned low fuel=high speed so I'm going for it. Long story short I fell two laps short on fuel had to make an extra stop on lap #33 and blew my second place finish. I never knew that.pushing that hard burned up that much fuel. Pushing on PL5 for two laps straight used up 4 laps worth of fuel. That's really going to make me think twice when it comes to fuel strategy and FE MATHEMATICS. I think I might just add a lap or two of extra fuel, accept the slower speed do to extra fuel and make sure that this does not happen again. Sorry for the extra long post just wanted to share my experience with you all. Other than that I love this game and even though it cost me a few spots and I had to learn this lesson the hard way grateful that this game actually take some thinking and planning good luck to you all.

Hi Mike,

Without wanting to give too much away and risk ruining the learning/testing side of the game, you have found that as strong as the hard tyre is, its not ideal for every track. Although this is not a sim it does borrow a lot from real F1 and like real F1 there are certain tracks where you will struggle to get hard tyres up to temp at all, Monaco and Turkey or example, while there are other tracks where they will easily get up to temp, specially in the summer, Monza for example.

Based on this you may need to consider that some tracks will just be quicker going for lighter fuel load and softer tyres. I will leave it up to you to figure out which tracks to do that on. If your working from a PC/Laptop excel is your friend :D

Those two laps short of fuel wasn't just the consumption of those 2-3 laps on higher push I recon, although in first season with that one digit fuel economy stat the consumption is indeed horrid and so are the jumps between push levels. 

One very good friend of every manager, especially ones learning their ropes, is clicking on a race of yours to get the race report and then click on the finish time cell. For your drivers you then get a full lap for lap report including remaining fuel at the end of the lap with which you can (roughly, because 'only' one digit behind the point vs two in training) calculate your fuel consumption for every lap and compare it to your training results. You can do that for other teams drivers as well but their reports have no fuel or tyre data, except type, there, but still nice to compare strategies.

I do not reckon I can see the fuel stats you ate referring to on my mobile app. I see a gauge but no numbers

Yes, I'm on PC and also only use the browser if I have to play on the phone. So that data is crippled on the App, weird since actual numbers shouldn't need that much more space than a gauge.
