Got to agree everyone went in at the same time and the ones with higher car numbers got an advantage.

I thought it would affect the higher numbers worse? I've seen guys in the first pit boxes lose over 10 places in a pit because everyone comes in on the same lap and they end up getting trapped in their box while everyone pits.

Wait, nevermind, I'm thinking the wrong way around. Yeah, the higher number guys always get the advantage.. Whoever is in the last pit box.

Not to mention guys on slicks blocking like hell the guys on full wets. This is unrealistic.

Yeah people blocking is really punishing and needs to be addressed, especially in the early stages of the race where kers hasn't yet charged.

In my last race (Bahrain, 35 degrees) three of us started on 5/5 softs. Two of those teams (myself included) were there, the other guy wasn't for whatever reason. I guess he lost track of time and forgot about the race or something. Anyway..

P1 and P2 were one team
P3 and P4 were another team (the team who wasn't there to control his drivers)
P5 and P6 were my team

All of us being on 5/5 push, we obviously backed off to 1/5 push really early in the race, but since P3 and P4 weren't there they started to overheat very early in the race as they were left on 5/5. On about lap 4 my drivers took P4 and P5 and got right on the tail of P3 (who had glowing tyres they were so hot) at about turn 2 on the track. For some reason, whatever it is, my drivers decided to sit behind him for the entire lap rather than passing him. Not a few corners - an entire lap. The time loss was out of this world frustrating. Here's a snippit I took because I was so pissed off about it at the time.

4 seconds lost in one lap because he wouldn't pass the guy overheating his tyres... My driver Myhre waited until the DRS zone to pass Ellingsen and by this rate first place had a stonking lead which was impossible to make up over the race. I can't understand how if a driver is that slow, people just won't pass him. There is plenty of opportunites on Bahrain to pass, especially when someone is going that slow. You can see there was a freight train of guys behind Ellingsen, why no one would pass each other I have no idea. They all just sat there like ducks.

None the less it is part of the game I guess. It does my head in at times though.

If u think losing 4 seconds on a lap is bad try going in the pits in the lead and coming out 21 seconds behind your championship rival because the pits are stupid.

I've had it happen many times. It does suck, but unless they reverse the pit boxes there isn't much else they can do.

I think maybe the possible timeframe for slotting in between the cars in the fast lane could be increased? Other than that I think pitting both drivers of the same team at once should be disallowed. But I also think it's part of the strategy to think who will pit when and how that could hinder you. (not taking this weather issue into account - that's a separate issue which should definitely be improved imo)

Sorry about both the problems mentioned here.  I can imagine how frustrating that was.

I'll make the pit crew a bit less safety-cautious and have them risk unsafe releases more.  That will reduce the chances of you getting stuck in the garage.

About the weather problem that caused the mass pit stop in the first place: In the next update your car will be automatically fitted with the compound suited to the weather (as per your weather strategy) 10 minutes before the race starts.

Jason, yeah the situation you described is quite ridiculous.  However, the push levels also instruct the drivers how much they should be trying to overtake and defend.  If I read your post correctly, your car was on 1/5 ( "Back off" ) while the car ahead was on 5/5 ( "Push hard" ).  By this formula, your car would almost never overtake (without KERS or DRS) except for extremely easy passes.  This would clearly have been an easy pass, but probably not quite easy enough as far as your driver was concerned, while on 1/5 push.

Andrew, it happened to me too, at Monza (Monza ! where is easy to pass). My cars were on wet tires, it was heavy raining and some cars in front of me were on dries. I was aware of the push levels and set them to 5/5. Still it took quite a while to pass them.
