Do you think players should be able to choose how long a driver/staff contract is when they are renewing the contract?

Yes, I think managers should be able to set the contract length. Shorter contracts should be more expensive per race and I think firing staff/drivers before the contract runs out should then always come at a cost, not only if that staff/driver decides to retire after the end of contract.

I agree with the cost about firing a team member as this would stop teams using a driver only once in order to climb the team's championship. Maybe if the cost was the driver's salary or something like that?

I would like to extend the contract of my two recruited drivers by (20 years×17 races n a bit to be save) 350 races. So they stay with me from recruitment till retirement for only 315+50 for 1 contract extension. Nice.
Maybe even better if i can offer a contract to a recruited driver upon recruitment so i can even save the 50 up for the 1 contract extension.
And since your suggestion was short contracts should cost more, i think my recruited drivers should receive even less payment per race since it is a long term contract. Maybe around 100 per race max.
I voted "its fine as is" if u r wondering.
If u do want a ""great idea" thats closer to reality (this is gonna bite me in the bum) open a topic for yearly contracts (or multiple years) where u can pay the driver according to his skill,so bad drivers will be paid the initial 315, but better or trained drivers can demand a lot higher salary (perhaps to a multiple of 10, just to make it more realistic) .
In which case i will also vote "it is fine as is"
Im just replying to this to kill off another silly idea that wants to change something which is perfectly fine. Because it seems u only want to avoid having drivers reach retirement age where youll be stuck with them, in which case i suggest u recruit your own drivers instead of renewing old driver's contracts
