I have on CD. Several people advice one to get more CDs, why? And how should I switch them so I get a "gain". I simply don't understand the logic - maybe someone is able to tell me? :)
Looking forward to hear from you all :)

Cds have strong n weak points, strong points develop faster and weak points develop slower. Further- strong points will start stronger next season and weak points start weaker next season.
Since there are 4 important point of the car and 4 'less' important points, u need a cd with an important strong point, and a less important weak point.
To activate a cd, make sure he is in the list of active staff members instead of the bottom list of surplus staff. So just swap them out according to where u feel ur car needs extra developing. Activating 1 for 1 race should set the development for next season at its max. While the weak point will be set at 'min'. So if u have (the correct )4 cd's throughout the season, u can start next season with a better car.

Nikolaj.
The Elite design cap for the start of a season is 50 points (Elite). A 4.5 or 5 star CD will achieve this cap in six races, after that the strength becomes useless. At the beginning of the following season with one CD your cars design will be 50 DP (the cap) in CD Strength, 22 DP in weakness and 42 or 43 DP in the six remaining attributes. Total before you add supplier positives and negatives is approximately 330 DP.
IF (and it's a big IF because they're hard to get hold of) you have three CDs, all 4.5 or 5 star with different strengths and you rotate them so that two of them are active for six races each and the other for five races you will achieve 50/50/49 in strengths so your overall starting design will be approximately 342. That's an extra 12 DP but if you get three CDs with good strength/weakness you'll also benefit from a much better balanced car.
Because you get bonus points for researching your CD strength you can also play tunes in the current season by activating the correct CD to maximise your research gain
I hope that makes sense.

OK. So to sum it up
1) CD strength defines points for next season
2) Strength is capped after 6 races (I did not know that - where do you get this info)
Question:
- IF I get lets say 3 CDs with 4,5-5 stars with strength in acc/brake/handle/downforce (well 3 out of 4 anyway). To get the 12 extra points don't you need all the 3 CDs to have the same weak side (for instance cooling or something else) or........?
And you say by activating the correct CD I could get better research gains? How? I mean if I am lets say 15 points behind in acceleration and I put in my CD with acceleration the gap would be smaller. My guess would be that I would get less gain, because the gap would be less?
Thanks for your answer :)

@Nikolaj
1) CD strength defines points for next season... Yes. For every race your CD is active this season he/she generates 1/17th of the total design your cars will have for the opening race of the following season. (This assumes you don't change league)
2) Strength is capped after 6 races (I did not know that - where do you get this info)… Not exactly. What I'm saying is that the initial design cap for Elite tier is 50 DP. If this cap were not in place, over the course of 17 races a 5 star CD would generate approximately 64 DP. But because the cap is 50 the remaining 14 points are wasted. The CD will reach the 50 cap in six races, so by switching to another CD with a DIFFERENT strength you can get a second design attribute to 50DP and are not wasting the DP that is being generated above the cap. Three CDs will allow you to achieve 50 DP in two attributes and 49 in a third. You only get 49 from the third CD because he/she can only be active for 5 races.
And you say by activating the correct CD I could get better research gains? How?... The research page will inform you of your Research Power. For the sake of simplicity lets assume it is 50%. If you research a single attribute with a difference of 15 DP between you and the strongest team you will receive 8 DP. 15 x 50% = 7.5 which is rounded up to 8. If you research your CD strength you will get more than 8 points and if you research your CD weakness you will get less than 8 points.
To maximise next season design all of your CDs need to be 4.5/5 star and all have to have different strengths. All CAN have (but don't HAVE to have) the same weakness. Reliability and Cooling are currently the favoured weaknesses. This is an expensive strategy in terms of wages and obtaining three CDs with good strength/weakness characteristics can take a long time. Therefore it only becomes viable at L18 or above because you level up much more slowly.
This is just my observations having played the game for a couple of years, it is not official iGP advice and I'm sure it will be challenged by others.

@Kevin Bissell
your explanation made a lot of sense.
I have been changing my CDs to capitalize on the "good" strengths, but didnt exactly know to what extent did that help me with regards to next season.
Thanks for clearing that Up
Thanks
