Race issues today

So, I had the Australian GP today in the league "Supreme Championship", Elite tier. 
Unfortunately, even though running a perfectly fine and strong internet connection, the race still lagged pretty hard for me (quality is set to Very High, but that can't be changed since an age for me now either). 
Then, I lost internet connection for a short time and rejoined the race a few moments later, however then not being able to change the push level from PL5, therefore running that for pretty much 30 laps in which I also couldn't rejoin, frying my tyres and only being able to join on Lap 55, with every chance of a good result gone. 
Could you explain what happened there, please? I couldn't rejoin the race to save my life from around Lap 25 till Lap 55, leaving me defenseless...

The problem seems to be solved again, yesterday's race went pretty lag-free but there seems to be some sort of "wobbling" going on on some tracks (I have actively seen Malaysia, Brazil), pretty much at the end of the DRS zones
