This is a question for leagues running a 2 compound tyre rule.
How do you police it and what penalties to you impose if someone breaks the rule.
I only ask because a member of our league mentioned it and we've been having a bit of discussion about it.
Cheers

We run a two tire rule now for probably the last 10 seasons.
Policing is done by all and we are yet to have a problem with anyone breaking the rule.
It has worked well for our league and the racing improved big time when we moved to this format

We run the 2 compound rule in our league and apart from a few issues at the start where people didn't want to do it , It has settled down now and everyone is playing fair. We issue a warning the first time 2nd time you get removed but that is after a few private messages to do the right thing. The rule is null and void if it rains and like Brad says the racing has improved massively and i would recommend doing it ..... The racing had become very stale and boring before the change.

In my league we have a multi tyre compound rule. So all teams must use any 2 tyre compound strategy in each race. For e.g. SS+S+S or S+M+S or S+H etc any more than 2 combination of dry tyres if it's a dry race. If it's a wet race then the mentioned rule doesn't apply so you can go full wets or inters or if mix conditions dry tyre rain tyre. This applies only to elite tier and pro tier. Rookies don't have to follow the multi tyre rule. If you don't follow the rule there is a penalty system as following. Strike 1- Start on Hard tyres and must run minimum of 25 laps on stint 1. Strike 2- start on Hard tyres and must run minimum 30 laps on stint 1. Strike 3- kick from league. You can rejoin the league but your car DP will be poor which is the penalty.

After each race everyone can check if everyone is abiding by the rules but normally the league admin checks each drivers results this is very time consuming and if anyone breaks rules then penalty notice is issued on league wall and also mail sent to player. Strikes reset each season so 3 per season.

Hmm, thanks guys. The chat in our league seems to point to a lot of people being interested in  a 2 tyre rule but are worried about the sanctions and how they'd be imposed  If its OK with you guys, I'll post what you do on our league wall and see what people say.

Yeah no probs Paul , We're gonna adopt M.S penalty system as that seems fairer and less harsh than mine.

M S can I ask, what happens if someone doesn't use 2 compounds and gets the 1st penalty of penultimate lap pitstop but doesn't take it? Or for that matter, doesn't take the 2nd penalty of starting on hard tyres?
Cheers

So if someone doesn't use multi tyre compounds in a race then they get strike 1 start on Hard tyres and must run minimum of 25 laps on stint 1 this only applies to the each individual driver so if 2 car team then 1 strike for offending driver if both drivers break rule they both get 1 strike each. In the next race they must do the penalty and start on hard tyre and run minimum 25 laps failing to do this incurs 2nd strike which is start on hard tyre compound and must run minimum 30 laps this is to insure slow start plus time loss due to heavy fuel load this must be taken in next race. If they don't follow this rule in next race as well then they get strike 3 and are kicked from league but make sure player is notified of this and aware they are being kicked because of it. Offending player can join league back if they wish to but by getting kicked from league thier car design points won't be very good which is the penalty. If they do join back 3 strikes get repeated if they don't follow rules.

I have never had to go as far as kicking anyone out of my league so no one goes as far as strike 3. I have been using multi tyre compound rule for over 10 seasons and tweaked it along the way. Everyone in my league knows the penalty and don't even go as far as strike 2 anymore. Unless some people are not live or active. Oh by the way forget to mention an important rule. If players are not active or set up their car they will go full race on mediums as standard so no penalty for people who didn't do the set up. So when checking results anyone on full race medium tyre no penalty. Also to minimise the workload of checking so many individual drivers race results to see if they stick to rule. I've started only to check points scorers results and only penalise some one if they scored points with breaking the rule, this way you don't have to check all drivers and also no point penalizing teams who are already out of points and struggling.

Make sure all participants are aware and understand the rule and penalties. Message each new pro and elite team so they know rule when joining league. When they break rule message on league wall regarding which strike it is what penalty it is for which team which driver and also message them directly with same message so they know they have a penalty.

Start of each season remind everyone through league wall the rules and penalties.
