game lag on laptop

I race in 100% league at 20:00. the game lags and gets progressively worse as the race goes on to the point where the sound and cars are choppy. my wifi connection is good. I have lowered the quality settings but it doesn't work, it automatically loads the race in very high quality and when I change it and hit save and reload it doesn't save the setting, it goes back to very high. not every race is as bad as others but it does happen every race now, and a few have gotten to the point where it was unplayable. 

I have an ASUS laptop with intel core i5 7th generation. I know its not the best laptop but I know it can handle the game because it has before. is there something I can do or is the server busy at that time? its just getting to the point where its hard to play the latter half of the race. Thanks

I think this is just a common problem from playing the game within the browser environment as I have myself experienced this a lot, so I went back to the app version.  Most likely dependent on also how many managers join the race at the time.
