I have used chat without issues for the first two times out of my 3 free 2d races. However, my last free 2d race and my first 2d race as a subscriber had a character repeat problem in the chat window, where every character was repeated twice, for example:
ggooiinngg ffoorr ggoolldd!!
instead of
going for gold!
I have not upgraded JRE or changed any JRE settings in between the four races.
