How do drivers decide when to retire?

Age, usually about 35-45 mark. It's a chance based upon RnG which increases in likelyhood the older the driver is.

Me and my friend were wondering if it was linked to experience - More experience = less chance of retiring early? It's just a common trait we've noticed, and wondered if that was any part of it.
