Seriously, I am doing terribly in the game, just no pace at all. I get I need to understand it better but there is just no help in knowing where to improve. It's just frustrating. Where am I meant to improve? I get that the whole point is to work it out myself but like throw us a bone now and then!

Hi Drew, have you read the help section in the game and the beginners and advanced guides of Joey McLane? Both guides are pinned topics in the Help&Support subforum and contain a lot of useful info from probably the best player ever in iGP.

Also, you have posted this in the suggestion forum. I can't really find a clear suggestion in your post, I see it rather as a question for help, so I'm tempted to move it to that section. Unless you do wanted to make a specific suggestion? In that case, please explain it a bit more.

Hi Gert, the suggestion is to provide more help after the race. Like where other teams are better. Why exactly the other teams are faster. Not every detail but just one suggestion or fact per race. I know about the whole research, but something like your driver is too old, your push level was too high, facilities in the HQ need improvement, just some hints as to why you sucked in that race. I know the guides off by heart but there is just stuff that just doesn't make sense.

Also it is a known fact that the game just forgets about teams that have been in a single league for a long time. If you leave and come back into a league you do better the next season. That shouldn't happen. So with that in mind I don't know if my pace is bad because of misreading the guidelines or because of a bug in the system.

One other thing is that Joey McLane wrote the guides before the updates in tyre degradation so isn't it now outdated?

Thanks for clarifying your suggestion.

And yes, some of the stuff in Joey's guides is indeed outdated now, we were actually still today debating what to do with that :)

Drew, you need to join a league like ours, one in which every member is happy to help everyone else. We just enjoy good, close racing and as such, try to help anyone so that they can compete with everyone else.
At the moment our league is full but if you fancied joining us, mail me and I'll see what can do.
Cheers
Paul

Really? It's not a known fact I've ever come across but they do say you learn something new every day. Approximately how many seasons do you have to compete in a league before iGPs forgetfullness kicks in?

Thanks Paul, I am in a pretty good league at the moment, too good really as I can't even score points, but there are just massive gaps in information that don't explain the lack of speed. 11:30pm is a little too late for me but I'll keep you in mind.

Hi Kev, I have competed properly in 3 leagues in Elite (The Active Daily Championship, Preston Racing, and now Formula 1 World Championship). In The Active Daily Championship league I can't remember the details but there was somebody with everything maxed out that didn't have any pace and had been in that league for ages. So another manager suggested in the league comments that he should leave and re-join the league and it will improve his pace in the next season, which he did. So in the next season with the everything the same he came 2nd or 3rd I think. Point is he was competitive again.

I changed leagues because I wanted to race at a different time of day, so I moved to Preston Racing. A chap called Kurt Gray was struggling with pace and didn't understand why so I told him to leave and re-join and the next season he was competitive again and came 3rd in the championship I think I can't check as I'm not in the league anymore. Again he was competitive again.

Then because the clocks changed the league raced an hour earlier so I moved to Formula 1 World Championship league. Last season John in our league came 10th only scoring 30 points the whole season with everything maxed out. He was getting frustrated because he was struggling for points so you can guess what I suggested he should do and this season he won the first race in Australia and is now 2nd in the championship with 266 points with 4 races to go. He had joined the league in August and had been promoted to Elite along with Shane. Shane had dominated the league and had very little competition until John "rebooted". Fair enough he still won't win this season but it seems the evidence is that the game forgets some managers until they re-join and it has another look at the managers statistics and goes holy cow send him to the top.

I intend to do the same on a regular basis, so I can't give you a specific time as to when the game starts to forget about you but if you are struggling it is worth trying it out because it's better than just coming 10th all the time!

How in the world would iGP’s algorithms “forget” about Managers?  Seems there has to be some other performance based explanation.

Maybe "Forget" is the wrong word, but I am telling you I've seen it happen over and over again. So it's probably a bug in the system or something but whatever it is, there is something wrong. Maybe it's like pressing the refresh button when your computer gets stuck buffering? I actually don't care if some thinks it's a load of rubbish, they can lose for all I care.

This is probably in the wrong thread now! Unless you take the "refresh" option as a suggestion!

Mate i ran 5th and 6th for 3 straight seasons trying to catch the guys above me. One guy won 17 straight races with one driver and then i finally got him in a Wet race!! Yep it was luck of the draw for that one but it broke his streak. He then came back and won another 6 straight and i went back to 5th and 6th. The next season though all of us top six were winning races and it was game on. Then like you said the time shift killed me as it was a 2hr swing. I then started up my own league to see how it would go and a few of the guys that were in my old league decided to follow. When i started the new league everything on you stats goes back to zero!! Eg, acceleration, braking, cooling, downforce and so on. Yep this made the cars slower again but its bought on some great racing and some different choices of tyres also. Yes the one guy is winning most of the races and ive taken two off him so far but we have had some close ones. Last night was the rare example of where he won by over 10 seconds!! So for us its come down to strategy to get past each other. Yes he is a Level 18 and Im a level 15 but the battles have been great. Its not just in our Elite side that has been great racing but in the Rookies and Pros also!
I guess what im saying really is you just have to stick with it or jump and try something new. Maybe new drivers new staff etc. Im not saying this is the answer as i dont know what the answer really is but keep going mate!! None of us are as smart as all of us!!

I think there are advantages to certain engines, fuel, tires for certain tracks but I don’t have it all figured out, yet.  Maybe you competition does.  Also, there are some push level adjustments during a single lap that I think gain you time and keep your tires fresh - again, he may be better at that.  We had the same experience in my old league - same guy always finding a way to win when everything else was the same.  There are “secrets” that have to be unlocked to win at the top levels.

Hmmm, these are some interesting findings. Looks like we (the players) will need to do some more testing before it can be proved but who doesn't like some scientific analysis eh? I would say something about this here but then we'd be going off topic so I'd suggest starting a new thread in the off-topic forum if you want to continue this conversation.
