Hello,
as I pretty much started the game, I presumed the engine condition affected the chance of failure. However, I just learned there and no DNFs due to mechanical problems so my question is does the engine condition do? Does it affect on-track performance only or overall car stats?

affects speed, I also assume at 0% you retire like when parts fail and inactives retire from suspension failure. as I say I assume because it's never happened to me, I have seen the retirements though.

Stu is right, if your engine is not at 100% it will negatively affect your speed. And when your engine condition reaches 0% your car will retire because of mechanical failure.
