IGP's Global Champs!?

We have leagues across the planet... 
Who are the top racers?
The hall of fame tells a story....
but is it "The" story?

We could use a way to put together all the top 3 racers on every tier of every league on an elimination tournament held during the break in between seasons.

Purpose: To decide who gets the right to call themselves IGP's Rookie/Pro/Elite Global Champion.

Thats a nice idea, it would be interested to watch these races

1) not all leagues have breaks at the same time
2) some leagues have 1 day breaks, idk how they could do a whole elimination tournament in one day.
3) not everyone can race at the same time of day so it would be impossible to agree on a time for everyone to prove themselves
4) not everyone wants to race in this sort of thing 
5) this would take ages to code and it's not needed which means that even if it was somehow approved it would be pushed right to the end of the waiting list (that could mean years away).
6) quick races will be a much better way to prove yourself against others when/if it arrives. Could race at anytime against any number of people you choose on any track, just the idea of it gets me excited.
7) is everyone going to have the same car, level,drivers,etc? If so what's the point? Races will be pretty much decided by qualifying which would be random and prove nothing.
8) race length and speed also would have to be decided, this will also decrease the number of people able to play
9) there would be so much lag from the shere amount of cars participating if you plan to have every top 3 team
10) it's impossible to prove who is the best in this game because of all the random, hidden variables and numbers that influence your pace without you even doing anything. Therefore an event like this is very ineffective in proving "the best". Additionally, finding the best is subjective, since we all have different opinions on what would make you the best and therefore how to measure your talent. One could say you are the best if you have the most wins, another the most points, another the smallest race completion time, another the most dominant win with slowest possible team, another the best comeback from a low start position etc.

In conclusion, this idea has good intentions but unfortunately is in my opinion not good enough to be added in any way to the game...

Leo, the idea here is to add diversity to the game.  I can see you have taken the time to think of some the cons with this idea. I suspect there are more out there. However, I feel the devs are up to the challenge.  

Before I give my take on your thoughts I appreciate a straight shooter like yourself Leo.  

1) Time is what one makes of it. The devs can figure out how to best work the schedule of a race like this out.

2) 1,2,3 or whatever number of days a given league gets for break isn't the issue or factor...participation is. If an event like this is something one wishes to enter, they'll make it happen. This could be over and less than 2 hours if the the proper list of criteria to short list participants is used. 
 
3 & 4) One doesn't have to participate on any race that conflicts with their schedule.  So if you happen to be a top 3 on any given league's tier and wish to enter, you could... You don't want to, you don't have to... 

5) Everything starts from an idea otherwise this game wouldn't exist. 

6) The race length should be long enough for players to be able to put their skills to work. At least 2 stints.  

7) I would hope participants would have their current car level and a current driver in their team. I'm sure the devs can come up with more relevant rules.

8) Race speed? It's a race! No one participant would have a clue what other cars are able to do. This is the kind of race you place all your eggs in it and leave nothing to regret later. 

9) Lag? 21st century Leo, where there's a will there'e a way. Besides, I think a lot more players race at any given time currently. 

10) Prove? This race is not about proving anything other than mixing it up with high end racers and to determine on a given time and place and set of given circumstances who can win a said race. Then talk about it within your league, forums or any other medium. It'll probably take a few shots at it to get it close to perfect, but it's a process where we all can help make it better.

You may be right on the time line though. Reading the announcements and some other related media it sure looks like this game will be evolving a lot quicker as we move forward. And that's ok.

I agree with both of you that HoF needs improvement since the ranking system is not fair!!! (There have been many suggestions by many igp managers so I won't say more!!!).
Regarding global champ I believe he can be determined only through monthly/yearly events!!!!(the length and the terms of the event would vary regarding the number of participation...!!!)

Hey hey hey.... this is starting to sound like the Indy500... only current top performers are invited.  This is something that would add a most needed touch of excitement to the game.

John, C'mon! you're telling me you can't see the similarities here. 


Since 1911 the indy 500 has been considered the top level of American Championship Car. Also known as the Triple Crown of Motorsport. Some people go as far as placing side by side to the Monaco Grand Prix and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Having a race with all current top tier drivers draws my attention.
This is why Hamlet's idea reminds of it.

Just one small additional thought ...the event can be a simple race (1day event)or a championship (like champions league in soccer)

...and I have the feeling it would be best if HoF was based on the event's stats only!!!!
