Things that could make this impossible are that framework/system limitations prevent the race viewer from being able to run that long in App or Browser.
The other question would be what would be needed to make this work. Things like giving the players ways to setup their own compromise between speed and reliability/wear. Detailed in race reliability and wear and thus in race repairs and ways to let players decide what and how much to repair and decide which compromise between repair times, (loss of) speed and risk of component failures they want to take. All the stuff making managing endurance racing interesting. For a full 24h distance a way for more than one player managing a team, else I don't expect that that many players will choose to go through that distance even on 2x, or more (though that's limited or it's getting ridiculous and unmanageable fast), time acceleration.
I'd like this, also Indy 500 comes to mind, but I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. Fleshing out the current game with more tracks, options and custom and friendly races/championships probably should have priority. I hope though this game has a good future ahead and thus, one day, it'll ready for this.
