I raced in a league. got #3 place when finishing but no prize money.

That is probably because u finished 2nd the race b4 that. Prize money does not exist in this game, it is all sponsormoney and bonusmoney, so your selection of sponsors decide how much money u get, how much coins, and how much bonus money u get depending on your finish position.
If u finish in a good spot, next race your sponsors will demand u to reach an even better spot.. this is not a bug but just the way the game is setup
When u finish in a bad spot the target will be finish the race for next race, if u finish 10th, the target for next race will most likely be 9 or higher.
Because u finished in 2nd place the race before, your target will most likely be finish first, of maybe 2nd.
Before the race starts u can see at the main page what your target is for sponsorbonus, or you can see it during the race in the live standings, by the green line, which u have to finish above.
