I don't think it's a hack, it seems to be a bug where occasionally a team does not properly reset at the end of the season. This has been reported a few times recently and always appears to result in Acceleration not resetting.
The developers are aware and as far as I know are working to understand how it happens.
There is a "work around" but it has to be done BEFORE the Australia race. The work around is to ask the manager to leave and rejoin the league, this will reset the design to normal. Unfortunately because your Australia race has already taken place if the Manager leaves and rejoins now he will be badly penalised in terms of design so I'm not really sure what options are available to you.
One option is to ask support to re-start your season and at the same time reset the design for all of the cars in the league. The reason for resetting all cars is because anyone who researched Acceleration during the Australia race has also benefited from the bug

Hi Vlad,
Apologies for the delayed response. We have opted to remove 20% of the acceleration performance from this manager in order to restore some balance to the league. The next rounds should be more of a challenge for him after his big advantage in the early rounds.
