I tend to have really good qualifying pace, generally qualifying in the top three, however in the race I tend to drop down to around 8th or lower, does anyone know how to combat this?

Are your driver or drivers stamina green and at level 20? If not then i would say that would be the problem.

Yeah , I found this as well. I normally drop up to about 6 places within the first few laps.

Some questions come to mind:
How much fuel? Overweight?
Tyre temp optimal?
Tyre compounds (dry, wet or too hard or too soft)?
Car repaired (parts, engine)?
