I suggest we change the Set Up system to what it used to be in the original iGP. Those who have stuck with the Game long enough will know what i mean. Then we had around 10 different areas of the car to adjust and correct just to get ready for the race. I liked that system, it made the races more unpredictable, even with the laps you had you probably still couldn't get the car completely perfect, it made for much better racing.

I can understand why they've put in the current system, but personally I prefer to really get down to every part of the car, to really think of which set up might be best for which track rather than just finding the 3 areas to perfect and done. I love this game, but set ups are far too simple.

I hope this can be implemented again, if not across the board, perhaps just level 20 Managers to make it more of a challenge for them once they hit top level.

Regards
Carter

Maybe have this as a league option what hosts can turn on or off, on being the old system and off being the more simple new system

Do you (or anyone else) have any screenshots of the old set up system? I for one would love 10 set up parameters..I'm the sort of set up techy that goes as far as the suspension dampers! :D

Here it is, but remember the old game was browser only and it's most likely that the setup had to be simplified to account for screen size on mobile phones.

And BTW, it was possible to get the perfect setup if you applied a bit of logic to the problem. The setup below is perfect as the driver reports "Feels good" for all seven parameters. So not a lot different from the current game just more parameters to set.

I like the ability to give your driver a race strategy. I think today you control it indirectly via the push levels, but to be able to set up how much risk your driver should take would also be great.

The race strategy in the old game was exactly the same as Push Level in this version and behaved in the same way. There were five different levels, I can't remember the words associated with each but the one in the screen shot above equates to PL1.

So in short: spring stiffness is now the suspension and its soft-neutral-firm settings, rear and front wing are merged into wing level, ride height is more or less the same, and the other three options have been dropped entirely.

it would be nice to have the old system back. after all it's not that different from what we currently got. it's all about numerical values still but now they range from 1-50 instead of 1-100. still it's more or less the same.

now a lot of people will say "but after the optimal setup is found it will become irrelevant again". here's where my suggestion comes in.

setup should have 7 options like before AND most importantly: the setup is variable based on your car design. for example: your car has high development in downforce = you can run less front/rear wing for an optimal setup. small stuff like this would be really fun since you get a new challenge every season as car design isn't always the exact same value as the season before.

i can think of a reason why it was simplified in the first place though and that's because of access. especially people downloading the app may feel overwhelmed and turned away by so many things to set as some just want some casual game to play. it's a difficult topic to get right in the end.

This is why I liked the old system so much, it depended on so much to have the exact same set up, every race was a challenge, with this system, i've have the same set up for well over 10 seasons (I cant see any further back than that, the data tables i keep dont go back that far) thats why i would love to see it's return, it would add a whole new dynamic to the game

Mike, sorry Carter! I agree that more set up areas would make the game more interesting but I think your last sentence is the most interesting and goes a little towards my idea for an improvement.
I'd like to see a new, extended version of the game once players reach level 20 cos as soon as you're a level 20 player with level 20 drivers there's nowhere left to go.
What I'm suggesting with this idea is once a player reaches level 20 a whole new area opens with levels 20 to 30. This extended version doesn't need extra set up areas, but instead, there could be various changes to random tracks such as a resurfacing at certain points or over the whole track, from level 20 the weather could have more of an impact, it could affect the tyres making it hard to get in the right window. There are loads of ways to make the game harder for experienced players without adding more set up areas, tho that could be added, too.

I agree with making the set up more difficult by adding more things to change for the car, and by adapting the set up to the evolution level of the car on the season. Many people would not be able to make the perfect set up (even though eventually all would come close).

I would also suggest making a button or something to record the set up or the race strategy from the previous season instead of needing to take notes and remembering

Jessica.
The old game was switched off nearly 3 years ago but if I remember correctly you could load a previously saved strategy as a starting point. That's the green button in the top right hand corner of my screen shot above.

I do not have such button right now...

I think it would be nicer to have the old system. More things to play with, harder to make the set up for the race. Experience would be a plus to make the set up and along the race.

Honestly, it really wasn't that hard to get the ideal setup. Just more settings to play with and therefore took more time to do it.
Jessica... no you don't have that button, it was in the old game.
