I get your concern, and to be fair it is hard to introduce a random failure aspect in a way that doesn't annoy the customers (all of the Papyrus veterans around here will agree with me on this, right?). BUT - having said that - there needs to be at least a LITTLE bit of random chance introduced into the game if people are going to stick around. Right now, the results are drearily predictable - and while that's also somewhat realistic to real-life F1 (to its detriment), having no element of driver error, acts of God, etc. that mark a real-world race removes a little value from the game.
Sorry for the tripple post, I am too lazy to edit and manually quote, shame on me. Tony, what do you mean by Papyrus veterans ? You mean the video games ? I played a lot Indycar Racing (1 and 2) and NASCAR Racing (1 and 2) and don't know what you mean,
On the other hand, as I recalled from previous discussions (issue has been raised in the past), Andrew stated the randomness is already implemented concerning driver mistakes, but nowadays it's set to minimum. So, all we need is a petition to raise the variable. Also, cars DO RETIRE from car part wear. Again, we could set the variable higher. Only thing missing are the crashes. So far, from all the games I play, only F1Time has them. And I stay all race biting my nails for my driver to not roll the car.
