why do I get negative reputation points after I win 2 consecutive races at 1st and 2nd place.

how does the reputation points work? don't get it.

any help would be appreciated

Reputation points are based on your results in terms of the ability of the other teams in the league. If you are in a high rep league, and you get good results, your rep should increase and vice versa. 
As for losing rep while 1-2 in races, I am not sure.

And don't worry if your Reputation does drop a little bit, after each race..it can happen in newer leagues.

The main thing is, if you are enjoying the league, and have active managers as competition :)

And Reputation does not mean much these days..there are a few managers on the 10,000 Reputation list, that I have beaten nearly every 100% distance race, by 15 seconds, sometimes 20 seconds in dry conditions! They just happen to keep moving their accounts into top Rep leagues, gain Reputation, even if they never win a race.

how does the reputation points work? don't get it.

Because your are racing against equal or lower level managers than yourself there won't be much rep pts to go around. I would say that most likely the lower level managers in your tier are are getting more rep points than you are, simply for competing against higher level managers.
