How do I run out of fuel during the first stint with the race in simulation mode since I don't have or use 2D?

Nice way to start the season after having a great first seasonin my league!

I've had a few similar queries within the past few days so I am concerned that there may be an underlying technical bug.  However the logs show a similar cause here that is not due to a bug (although the system may be functioning in a way that is a bit confusing).

The log shows that at the start of lap 10 you ordered a pit stop and then about a 3rd of the way through the lap you cancelled the stop.  The driver then respected the cancel instruction and did not pit at the end of lap 10.  This then left him with too little fuel to complete lap 11 and he ran out of fuel.

Does this sound accurate?  You mention that you weren't using 2D, but were you nonetheless using the live controls on the Timing page?  Also, did you press PIT and then later deselect it on lap 10?

Assuming all of this happened as the logs suggest, were you expecting that the driver would still automatically pit even given that you had given a manual instruction on that lap?  If so, I am considering changing the system so that the drivers will still automatically pit even if you have cancelled one of your own pit stop instructions on that lap.

If a driver straight out hasn't got enough fuel for another lap, then I feel the driver ought to do what is sensible and head for the pits rather than running out regardless. Hopefully this isn't also connected to drivers wanting to pit on the final lap even though they have plenty in the tank.

If a pit stop is cancelled by the player, I think the driver should respect that decision, even if they're about to run out of fuel, instead of the computer overruling the player and the driver coming in anyway.

It'll get to a stage when there's no player needed for the game and everything will be done automatically.

I was expecting the driver to pit after hitting the button.  I realize that the controls were not clear to me. So now I know.  I guess I would be for having the driver pit if there is not enough fuel to complete another lap but that doesn't always happen in real life either.  To many times the driver stays out because the chief mechanic doesn't call them in and they slow on the back stretch with no fuel. I've seen it in person to many time at Idianapolis!  It's something I have learned from and I won't make the same mistake again.
