Corporation Crazy Cow has been the dominant team in recent years. They have dominated for 3 seasons with double championships back to back. But there has always been a close rival. The closest rival this past season was Eagle Racing which mounted a great fight in the early part of the season but lacked the consistency but he believes podium finishes might be a far reach. Let’s not forget the 5 back to back championships that Eagle Racing saw from season 12 to season 16. Season 17 to 19 was dominated by Corporation Crazy Cow. Season 20 looks promising to be one of the closest seasons in Saturday 100 history. There are a total of 5 teams that could get lucky and take the championship this next season.

Most Successful GP Teams

    Teams                                            Championships

Eagle Racing                                                5

Corporation Crazy Cow
Squadra Speedgeek                                      3
JPS Lotus

Brabham                                                      2

Ensign
Vaillante GP                                                  1
Tyrrell

When Hein was asked about their success and their next season he had the following to say

Hein: "We are well prepared. This year we are of course going for  [the] championship again but we know we are only one of several teams who have the chance to become champion in the end. Surely it will become a hard fight for podium places and we can only hope to play a big role in the competition again."

New teams like Mendez Fuerza and Johnson iGP put pressure on the veteran teams due to their massive infrastructure and personal. You also can’t rule out 3-time world champions Squadra Speedgeek.

When Oscar was asked what to expect for next season he said the following

Oscar: "We are new to the league and this is our first full season, but we have taken all the necessary people in all the right places to ensure that we will bring a championship fight. One of our drivers is a veteran and a proven race winner. Our other is a promising youngster that has proven strong throughout the preseason."

It is still to early too tell which team would break the Corporation Crazy Cow streak. It won't be until mid-season where the picture will unfold.

Squadra Speedgeek has been a team that has taken three back to back driver's and constructor's championships. The team struggled upon the arrival of Eagle Racing and things only became harder for them since the arrival of other teams. A driver that has been their since the success and is also the most senior driver of them all, Gabriel Hughes. Hughes has amounted a total of 5 championships, 47 wins, and 43 pole positions. He is the most successful driver on the grid, one that most teams would be glad to have.

Hughes has been interview upon the beginning of Season 20 when asked about the new season and his plans:

Hughes: "I definitely hope that this new season and new car, along with our recent upgrades to our team's infrastructure, will allow us to compete at the front of the grid again, hopefully with a step forward and our first win in over two years. It's been a frustrating time for us, but I feel confident that we can get back to the pointy end of the grid again. As far as a switch to another team, I feel indebted to Squadra Speedgeek for giving me all of the opportunities that they have, and as a driver for them for nearly 15 seasons now, I hope that I can finish my driving career with them and integrate myself into the team in a new role after my retirement from the cockpit, if they'll have me."

This puts the question of a move to a front team to rest as Hughes has made his intentions clear for the rest pf the season.

Team director Andy Miller has also had a response upon the beginning of the 20th Season:

Andy Miller: "To be perfectly honest with you, we are not 100% sure what the missing element has been for us the last couple seasons. Obviously, Saturday 100 has gotten so much more competitive than in the days of our championships, since the arrival of Eagle, Gummi and now many other top teams, but this doesn't totally explain why we haven't been able to more consistently compete for wins and break back into the top 2 or 3 teams again. We know that we made some mistakes with the design and early development of our car for last season, so we have been very careful not to make the same mistakes to start this season, but we will be evaluating all aspects of how the team is run and how it performs with every passing race this season."

When asked about a future driver, Andy said the following:

"We do have a young driver in the pipeline that we've been working with for when Gabriel decides to hang up his helmet, and we're keeping an eye on any other new driving talent that we can find. This said, we're actually quite pleased with the pace of our existing lineup, as Gabriel and Felipe were able to show what they can still do on multiple occasions in qualifying last year, even if our race pace wasn't where it needed to be. We felt that our reduced gap to the Gummis and our 3-4 finish at Abu Dhabi last year was proof of our team's hard work through the season, and we hope that this momentum will carry us into the new season. We're very much looking forward to seeing where we stack up with all of the teams, both new and long-standing Saturday 100 members, when things kick off in Melbourne later today."

Squadra Speedgeek is a team with a lower budget than those of the front runner, but the team has been working to close the gap to the bigger teams. The new grid is one of the most competitive of recent years and it will be interesting which of the teams will prevail by the end of the season in Abu Dhabi.
