The weather simulation is absolutely ridiculous. It has NOTHING!!! to do with a simulation it is a pure chaos! Since I know this game (more than a year) there is no improvement.
Today our league race in GER at 7pm was a farce... hours before race, only rain, rain and rain until 10min before the race, means when you cant change something, rain ends... fu..
This is not the first time. And in real, its still raining. Fu..
Pure game without technical improvements only cosmetic improvements.
Stop this sh.. until you are able to delivery a real simulation!

I don't get ur point.
I think the game simulates reality pretty well:
- If it rains through training sessions in F1, the teams don't have a clue about dry race setup and how tyres do in long runs.
- Weather may surprise u. Always being on the right tyres is difficult. And it should be!

Please elaborate what u expect.

I had a race in britain just over a week ago and around an hour before the race it kept going dry and wet, before in the race going wet the whole race.

Also had a race in hungary when just before setup locked it went dry so few of us changed setup in time and then started raining seconds after setup locked...

Blame the rain;)

What I expect is that it has something to do with reality. Sure in real life weather can be a surprising thing, but nevertheless a forecast for the general situation of the next few minutes is possible but definitely not here. They told us the game weather is a few minutes behind the real weather and this is not true. Even if I checked before and afterwards the rain radar of a track it was not the situation in the game.

Other games have a much better simulation like Motorsport Manager but unfortunately it is not a online manager game.

for me it looks like a problem of the weather Provider yesterday. my App on the phone told me the whole day that it is raining while it never did.(where i live)
that is defenitely a downside of relying on a 3rd Party and using real time weather, but makes it realistic, i remember the last year race at Hockenheim, where all teams had different forecasts, some drivers went into the pit for inters to Go back on drys and then back on inters. while others like Vettel stayed on drys and crashed.

It is not a simulation, it's real data from a weather station. Weather is chaotic sometimes, but we're not controlling Earth. :P

This is more useful and constructive feedback. If the data coming from the weather station was/is inaccurate that is another matter. Can you provide any evidence to document this and show which track it was happening on and when? That way we can investigate further.

I also realise we need to work on improving the advanced weather strategy tools to cover more situations. We're well aware that this part of the game has ways that it can basically trip over itself when the weather is erratic, and we will be assigning a developer to focus on this full-time very soon. Hopefully that provides some reassurance.

I have nothing but respect for other developers, so my opinion here is simply aimed at responding to your point. As a former competitive sim racer and now as a developer, my impression is that MM's simulation is quite basic, more so than iGP, but it is packaged in a way that feels more detailed by the visuals and UI. It works well as a single player game, but in online competitive play, in its current state, the shortcomings of the simulation would quickly be exposed. Of course, if we're just talking about the weather, it is able to provide a forecast dialog because it's making up the weather itself, rather than relying on real weather stations like iGP.

We've considered switching to faking the weather ourselves many times, especially when we hear about advanced strategy complaints. It would allow us to ensure the forecast is always accurate, and we even put it to a poll earlier this year IIRC, but people voted to keep real weather. That means we need to keep plugging away at advanced strategy solutions.

I guess its hard to guess what the weather is doing yes. I have looked at the webcams at some of the tracks that have them before the races. No im to believe there is a 2 hrs difference? Please correct me if i'm wrong there. There is a deninate difference though sometimes, not saying all the time but sometimes. So sometimes i question the so called real data at the weather station. I know the one that is used in the game is not correct prob 70% of the time here in Aust thats for sure.

Did you check from the Dark Sky weather forecasts? There are many other weather forecasts out there, but only Dark Sky is used by iGP for the weather simulations.

There is a delay though..not sure on the exact delay time (probably for the best! xD With the old weather provider, Wunderground, I, and I'm sure a few others, worked out ways to work out the exact minute, and 2-3 lap range when the rain would come..you would see me fit on Inters on a bone dry track, and then bam! xDD)

Sorry, it was a weather app which provides also a rain radar map, but it shows only the current datas plus/minus approx. 2 hrs. This app is german and called RegenRadar. And other sites I couldnt found with detailed review data.
The race was yesterday 20th June 7pm (UTC +2) at Nürburgring.

Thanks for your constructive feedback!

I realized a difference in weather data, too. Spa https://igpmanager.com/app/d=result&id=24057915&tab=race a few days ago. In iGP it rained troughout, while wetteronline showed an hour of dry weather in between thunderstorms.

That race at Hockenheim last year was crazy. Massive thunderstorm as I was leaving the track

Lucky the race didn't go on for an extra ten laps!

it should be well above 40c in bahrain but its currently showing 25 deg. maybe they had to put ice on the gauge? ;)

edit: and now 22.  i hope my team didn't get on the wrong plane

Sounds quite realistic that, can’t 100% predict the weather and it can change at any second,

See other thread. Bahrain goes to 5°C again. Happens for a week now from time to time.
