I've read old posts about it. I tried it my last race, I was generally faster than the guy finishing in front of me, but the time I saved with less pits didn't cover up what I lost because of the fuel I had to start my stints with. I just want to level up and I don't care about this and some of the upcoming seasons, I just want to farm money and tokens in the meantime and also do experiments, but this one is just weird. I mean, I would've beated the guy in front of me if I went 3 pit with hards, but that just sounds stupid, idk.

forgot to mention that the guy in front of me did 3 pits with medium, he's inactive, but still

First of all, which race length are we talking about?

100%, but that shouldn't be changing anything

LOL! “Much to learn you still have…my old padawan.” …

Tyres last more laps on 100% races. But fuel consumption is same. That means, in 100% races, u rarely ride tyres below 50% and almost never below 40% cause doing so would required a boat load of fuel.
In 50% races, riding tyres to 40% - 30% is a common pattern.

So, in 100% races, 1 stop and 2 stop strats are not possible, cause ur car would be too heavy (even if tyres make it. they don't matter). 3 and 4 stops is the way to go, fuel load wise.
That leads to mostly using soft tyres, cause they last long enough. If track is too hot and softs overheat, meds is your choice. SS are sometimes nice for a good quali/short first stint. Then back to softs!
Monaco is the exception: SS throughout. Got to be above 40°C to even think about softs here.

TL;DR;
In 100% races, 1 stopper are possible, but totally pointless, regardless of track and conditions! Even in rain throughout 2 or 3 stops are mandatory!

"I've read old posts about it."

Maybe you've read too old posts. There have been dramatic changes meanwhile concerning the tyre usage. But even earlier I cannot remember that a 1 stop strategy in a 100% race ever made sense.

I totally agree to Dani

I just done belgian gp with my 2nd driver on a 1 stop, he did same as what he normally does, however, it was raining and we were on inters , so i have no idea if this affected the result, and do not know if it would have been same in a dry race

Adi, u r racing in a 50% race length league. That's a totally different ball game! Apples, oranges, u know..

And yes, in rain in Spa in 50%, 1 stop is probably fine.

this is very handy, i just didn't know the difference between race lengths, i thought it would be the same, so thanks for explaining
