Is there any possibility that bought engines vs free are differentiated? So if you buy 20 engines you still get your free allocation in full? Otherwise buying engines mid term is not cost effective.

Or change the number of tokens of all levels of the number of engines to 1 token an engine.

I'd say you're better off buying them as you need them.  There's really no reason to buy 20 engines unless you're also doing quick races.  If you only compete in the league races, the most engines you can use over a course of 20 races is 19 for 1 car leagues, and 38 for 2 car league (since you get a 1 or 2 engine(s) for Australia).  If you go to Australia twice during those 20 races, then it's 18 for 1 car, and 36 for 2 cars.  I would stick to mainly buying 5,10, or 15 engines (since those are 1T for each engine) and only buy 1 or 3 engines if you actually need them.

Now that we can get free engines through the daily rewards, there is no need to buy engines with tokens.

That might be true for one car leagues and/or not racing daily. With two cars daily racing and renewing engines every race (except AUS) u still need to buy 7 to 10 each season.

That depends on engine wear. engines can last two races, so the allocation of 20 for the two car team should be enough, unless you're doing a lot of quick races in between the league races.

Yes Andrew.  Engines can last 2 races.  But, fresh engines are faster than engines that are 1 race old.  A study a friend and I did a while ago showed that, depending on the track, a 1 race old engine can be as little as 0.1 seconds slower to as much as 0.7 seconds slower.  If you use a fresh engine every other race while a competitor is using a fresh one every race, it'll be hard for you to compete with them regularly.

Also, while you can get engines through daily rewards, only 1 day guarantees that you will get an engine.  You can get an engine from the A, B,or C option, but there are 4 other rewards that can show up for those 3 options.

I think if 1-3 engines were still a token an engine then it would not matter

No, it doesn't! In a competitive u can't win with an engine with wear. U really need a fresh one each race!

I'd assume that would be the case in Elite, but in Pro we can get away with starting a race that's 92%

Does buying extra engines carry any penalty?

No.  As long as you have 0 engines remaining when it's time for your restock, you haven't wasted any tokens buying them.

I’m not quite sure how but I still had one engine when it was restocked so wasted one engine, it must have been through extra engine from the daily rewards
