What is going on with the damn fuel calculations in this game!

Im going into my final lap of the stint with it just hitting from 5L to 4L, im assuming by logic this would be 4.4L or 4.9L via rounding up since there is no exact fuel level shown.

The lap usage was 3.9L per lap and i stick it on full push probably using 4.2L per lap at the most.
I run out of fuel! leading the race and completley screw up my elite championship lead i have built up.

Sorry for seeming angry but after sitting here at race control for ages only to get screwed up i kinda am lol.

Please can you change it so it shows your exact fuel level rather that 5L, 4L ect?
If not how can i judge how much fuel i actually have? when does the fuel meter change?

When it goes from 5 to 4, you're right in assuming that it is 4.5

I personally think it should be 4.9, and we should be able to see the decimals. I don't understand the whole .5 thing.

But yeah Monza is only a 4L track, so that makes no sense as to why you ran out.... unless your pit box is after the line, that could explain it.

My question is why does the car seem to stop DEAD when it runs out of fuel? I was seconds from a win and ran out...which seemed to drag my car to a screaching halt when it seems like it should have rolled across the line..........

Both of these issues have been addressed in the latest development version of the game.  That is, you will see one decimal point in the fuel reading when the value drops below 10L.  Also cars will coast when they run out of fuel.  They can also be pushed in the pit lane.

There are still a number of issues that must be resolved before we can release that update though I'm afraid.

This. Add an extra liter or two, barely any noticeable difference in performance with that extra bit of weight. Better to be safe than sorry. But yeah, letting the car coast in the next version of iGP sounds sensible at the least.

Josh.. All I can say is that it has happened to 99% of iGP users and we all said the same thing when it first happened... I know it's no help, but you just have to take it on the chin and use it as a learning curve...

It's always better to lose 1 or 2 places because you have put an extra ltr on, over running out of fuel or having a pit on the last 1 or 2 laps... I don't see the point in trying to finish with .5 or less.. It just adds to the chances of a non finish.

Great news on the updates Andrew.. Any screen shots for the Dev Blog ? I would love to see a sneek peak of what we could expect. ;)
