To put suspense in the race, I was thinking of introducing Safety Car : I understand that with all the efforts made, managers do not want random accidents in their cars during the race, but what do you think about Safety Car that rarely goes out but with a probability that still can happen

That would make it possible to relaunch certain races, or to try different strategies in urban circuit for example

Good idea in theory, but it's very hard to implement that in an online gane without pissing off 80% of the user base because it will become too random.

Although we must all admit the level of realism is diminished without the chance of a safety car or full course caution. How intense would it be to have to make a split second decision whether to pit?

well, decision-making of putting dry or wet tyres in uncertain wheather got some tense enough, though

With careful programming there need be nothing random about a safety car, or any other incident. F1 doesn't send them out randomly, cars do not lose grip and spin, or break down randomly. There is always a reason, and usually a mistake. Those who fear 'random' incidents need only be worried about not making the correct decision under pressure, in a split second. Isn't that what makes races exciting. Planning is essential, but reacting to the unpredictable, (not random), is vital to success in real racing.

what about having AI opponents within leagues. and having random safety car incidents involving them to mix things up ?

Many cars are run by ai as players cannot always atte.

Randomness isn't necessary to mix things up, there are, within a motor race, enough unpredictable, but not random, incidents to add that element. I do, however, agree most strongly that the missing factor in the race simulation is unpredictability. Too many races are formulaic, this is illustrated by a lack of the split second decision making that should go along with a planned strategy. In real life, every strategy HAS to be able to cope with the unexpected, to react to the unforeseen. This is missing from iGP. We need it to advance to the next level.

Instead of it been placed as a "random" incident, the drivers actions could be problematic if he/she has low experience or the reliability at the research department being low. You could also add a separate Experience bar for the wet tracks.

An addition that would make the game more unpredictable and exciting for sure, but also more frustrating. I think it could work as an option in the league settings (like the tyre rules or the choice between 1 or 2 cars). An option that would make mechanical failures and race-ending driving errors a possibility, so the safety car can be deployed. Of course these incidents would be based on certain factors like engine/part wear, driver experience and even max push level for too long. Such things could cause a safety car incident with different probability in each track (a bar like the overtaking chances). This way, everyone who is willing to race under such risks and uncertainty, would be able to without affecting the others.

That would be a good solution. Those who want to face the same, split second decisions that real world team bosses face, could have that, and those who prefer a more predictable, more abstract representation of the race could stick with that style. At present we ALL have to take the less realistic route and have no choice other than 'like it or lump it'.
