I am just wondering if any of you out there could help with this one.

I have an old picture of Jim Clark and as far as I am aware. It's a very rare image..

Look at the number he is running with. 21.. I've search image after image and have only found 1 other image of him with the No 21 car.. and it was a painted pic that was on a program for one of the F1 races.. Also check all the other images and none of them are in a simular position to where the camera placement is.

Anybody know of where I could get it valued or any help on tracking some information about the track he is on and anything else.

Thanks in advance..

It's not a small image. The size is 700 mm x 500 mm.

The only ones I have found so far are black and white ones.. This seems to be a rare colour version... So I am guessing that the No 21 was used very early in this career.

Thank you so much Paul, really appreciated. I had an idea that it was Spa.. with the normal car barriers at the side. So I knew it was a real road track.

I've been able to research it now.. Paul. You sir are a legend. :D

So why did they change the numbers a lot back in the day.. as the 1st time it was rolled out, they ran with the No's 5 and 6... That is from the 2nd race of the season and he's got the No 21...

PS. Thank you so so much from that info Edwin.. I'm not bothered about the price of it, I've had it since I was 10.. wow 25 years ago. O_o

It's made me look at that image in a whole new light now.. and I don't mind admitting that it even bought a little tear to my eye. :)

Awesome you 2.. Thank you so so much for that info. It's made my day. :D

It might be worth getting it valued - even if it is just a copy of a photo, and rare, then it will have value.

Might keep you comfortable in your old age!

I was also wondering why they changed the numbers so often back then.
I've found some more info on a Ferrari forum: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/f1/402760-why-did-cars-numbers-change.html

From post #6:

How are F1 race numbers allocated ?

Before 1973, F1 drivers raced with different numbers at each race.
Teams in the world championship had to submit their entries to each
individual race organisation and were then given their race numbers by
the organiser. Number 1 ( # 1) was used by either the defending
champion of that race, the world champion, the first team to submit
their race application, or the favourite of the organisers.

I'm surprised to see downplanes on the nose in 1967. I can't see him using them in any photos except this one:

T
hink he just ran them for a single session?

Another nice spot. I was told that it might be a rare image, I'm still trying to find another one like it and i've not really come across anything with the same kind posistion of the camera and that it's in colour. I've looked through google images.

Was just watching this. Your number 21 features near the beginning.

Rob, You could try contacting Andrew Tulloch at the Jim Clark Room in Duns in the Scottish Borders (01361 883960). He is curator of the museum and may be able to help further.

I'm for 78.. but I still think that the lads pre 90's had a miles harder job than they do today.. don't get me wrong. I don't think the drivers themselves are worse today.. tbh. they are better because of the fitness and so on.. but when you listen to the likes of Hamilton saying that he would rather race in "proper" cars than the ones they have now.. These are the people they should be listening to and changing the aero around so the closer the cars are, the better it behaves and not like it is now.. it's the way it is now that is needed all the fakery thrown on top of modern F1.

Get rid of the stupid from wings and let the teams go mental with body aero and not wing aero.. It's going to be even worse next season.. if your Kers breaks, that is it.. race over.. I think we are going through one of the worst spells in F1 history tbh... If I wanted to watch scaletix. I'de go out and buy myself a set. That is what they are turning modern F1 in to... Give the control back to the drivers again. :)
