In the dropdown menu, if I were to extend a contract, I would pay the most money if I extended it for one race.
I noticed that a few weeks ago, when I went to renew my driver's contract, I couldn't renew it for 5 races and keep the wage normal. Instead, I get the lowest amount of money per race if I renew it for 17 races, and even then it's higher than what the wage originally was, so there's no way to keep the wages as they were.
Is that supposed to happen after a certain level, because I didn't see other people having the same issue.

This is nott a bug.

Wage per race will increase by 5% to 10% when renewing a driver contract

A long-term contract will result in a smaller wage per race increase

The new contract will be activated when the current one ends
But previously, I could extend a driver's contract, and it would leave the wage the same if I extended it for 5 races. Now I can't do that.
One of those is a bug.

The new contract will be activated when the current one ends
So say there is 5 races left on a driver's contract and say they are payed 500,000 and you extend the contract for however long, the driver will have the same wage for the next 5 races because their current contract has not ended.
After those 5 races then the driver will have the wage you put for the extended contract

My driver's contract was about to end, and let's say his salary is 500,000 per race. If I extend his contract for 1 race, iGP says his salary would go up to 600,000 (after this contract expires), while if I extend it for 17 races, it goes up to 500,200, which is the exact opposite of what happened before.
I might not be explaining myself well though.
Yuri Kasdorp medal 5000 11 years 108 days ago
The way you explain it there is how it is supposed to be.
In iGP more races has always = less money increase. 5 races = higher increase than 17 races.

But the exact opposite happens. The longer amount of time I extend my driver's contract, the cheaper it gets.

Driver and staff renewals WILL NEVER decrease their wages (such thing only happens with sponsors and suppliers). Because a short renewal would be more expensive for the manager, it's recommended to renew as many races as possible so the wage increase will be smaller. However, I've heard that, if you let the driver's contract run out and make him/her a new offer with a cheaper payment, it's possible that he/she accepts; haven't tried out, though.

That is the way the game is designed

Hi Dominik
I think there may be a little confusion between staff and sponsors
Sponsors work the way you describe but not staff/drivers

Think of it in real-world terms - if you were a driver, and you wanted job security of a long-term contract, you'd accept less money than if your team owner wanted to just do a race-by-race contract.
I think, as other posters have suggested, you're confusing the sponsor agreements (which pay out the same money if you only renew for 5 races) with the driver/staff contracts.

I B actually got what I'm talking about. I know how the game works, and how the contracts are extended, but my contract extending for drivers now works exactly the same as it does for sponsors.
Or, simply put, it doesn't work the same way it did before, at least not for me.

It should NOT behave like the sponsors' deals (i.e. being able to keep your driver salary unchanged from a previous contract; your driver should request a raise with every new contract renewal). If it does, then that's a bug.
Dominik Franov medal 5000 11 years 107 days ago
I know it shouldn't work like the sponsor deals, and it doesn't completely. It's similar to the sponsor deals in the way that it decreases the amount of money I have to pay the longer I extend the deal for, but it keeps it similar to the driver contracts in a way that their wage increases, even though it increases by a ridiculously large amount if you extend the contract for a short period of time. That didn't happen before.
Before this happened, I could extend my contract for 5 races, and keep their wage the same, with increases the longer I extend the contract for.
However, now, if I were to extend a contract for one race, I would pay the most money, and the wage would slowly go down the more races I extend it for. And if I extend it by the max amount of time (17 races), the wage increase is minimal (around 100-500), while the wage increase if I extended it for eg. 1 race would be around 100,000.
It's most likely a bug, since it stopped working the way it did previously, and started working this way completely randomly.
But note, that all of my other contract extensions work fine, it's just that the driver's is messed up.

Dominik - If you were able to extend the drivers contract and there was no increase in the amount you had to pay, then this is a bug (or was if it is no longer happening). I suggest you log a ticket with the help desk so that it can be investigated - as this is one exploit that could have serious consequences for the stability of the league system.
Dominik Franov medal 5000 11 years 106 days ago
I'll raise a ticket some time soon.
But to clarify: I could previously extend the driver's contract for up to 5 races without wage increase. I'm also pretty sure a lot of people in my league also can do the same.

I'm curious how your league shows zero teams in the league list but your team page lists your team Formula Beast as your current team. The league list should show at least one team.
edit whoops I forgot I can only see the Pro level teams

@Dominik - yes I understand what you are saying - this is a bug - I think
