Good day. Please remove the summer and winter time changes. It's annoying that the pre-set times changes when entering summer and winter time, we as host choose for a particular time to have the race (in my case daily) so it would be preferable not to touch these times or even respect those pre-sets, we didn't choose the time for no reason. I see this issue as a big bug in the system or a programming error, please do something about it because it is highly annoying and every time I get some angry people in my competition because they are not happy with the new times and I have to explain the same thing over and over again.

Please make our lives easier and do not change our pre-set times when entering summer or winter time.

Kindly regards, Mextreme.

The trouble is indeed that the simplest way to completely fix this would be forming an United Empire of iGP which rules the whole world and finally gets rid of all this DST business once and for all.
The more complex solution would be terraforming the Earth flat and making the sun rotating it, that would eliminate time zones as well.
Any coded solution can always just be a trade-off trying to alieniate the least amount of users. With this one those users are mostly the hosts which have to decide if their league should adjust for DST changes and, if yes, which region/countries one and finally making adjusting it a routine in their hosting twice a year.

I too dont see why the time changes, i know in the uk we change our clocks but why does the time change on the game?

Theres no reason to set the games time inline with gmt, set it to a time zone that doesnt change its clocks, then it will not change.

Dan, the game is actually properly set not to change with DST.

The game uses UTC (Universal Time Coordinatd), which is not a timezone and does not change.
Timezones are based on it, using a delta, that's why we see UTC+3 for example, but it could be UTC+0330 because some timezones have half-hour deltas.
It happens that GMT is the timezone in sync with UTC.

Now, DST adds to the original shift, and we go from UTC+1 to UTC+2 in France. It seems that the race time changed but it did not, it's the local time that did.

The solution chosen seems to be the best one, in my programmer's opinion, and creating the United Empire of iGP is the next best one.

I hope this brings some insights on how time and computers work together.

Also known as the Regent Street office in London, UK where iGP Manager are supposedly meant to be based! xD

I like the terraforming idea. Immagine there beeing a dark side of the Earth.

What about letting the host of a league decide, if his league is based on UTC or a certain timezone and its DST changes?

My phone auto corrects the time, my pc and pretty much anything digital that tells time does,  so why not the game?

Dan

Because it's your personal phone and your personal pc, but not your personal game. iGP is played by people all over the world and, believe it or not, not everyone follows the same time changes as UK.
