Relegation doubt

If i leave a league (before the end of season) while i'm on the relegation zone, will my team be relegated to the tier below (ex. elite->pro)? 
Or that just happens in the end of the season for those in relegation positions?

If you leave the league with your team in the red zone, you're automatically relegated, regardless if the season has ended or not.

I've tried it one time and didnt happen. So i asked to see what others had to say. After the answer,  i made it again but still remained in Elite tier. So if it's supposed to happen, why can´t i change to Pro tier, Edwin?
