That could be easily done I think, if the point system was changed to not use integers. The places from 11th to 32nd get points as 0.022 to 0.001. The displayed value is the truncated integer and thus no visible change at all, but behind the scenes in case of ties those shadow behind the point values determine the order.
I thought about this a little more Frank and you could use non-integer values but I think the scoring would have to go all the way up to 1st place. Reason for this is, if for example a player who had been scoring points outside the top 10 suddenly starts scoring points in a few races within the top 10 they would need to have those points retained on their scoring record in the event they fall out of the top 10 by the end of the season. Otherwise they would fall farther behind (after falling outside the top 10) if they had no points to show for while scoring in top 10. I think all it would take is a behind the scenes scoring system from 1st to 32nd that just alters the positions of the drivers from 11th to 32nd on the primary scoring system. Then if they used the non-integer values like you suggested they could make the secondary scoring points for all places below 10th visible on tthe leaderboards, without interfering with the current top 10 scoring values.
