Richard Nobles Thrust 2 land speed record film

If you have access to BBC4, they are repeating the excellent 'For Britain & then hell of it' at 10pm this evening.

October 3rd is the 30th anniversary of Richard Noble achieving 633mph in Thrust 2.

This is the film made about his attempts & ultimate success to break the land speed record.

Watched this with my eldest son recently.
Explained the engine was from an English Electric Lightning.

"Whats one of those dad?" was his reply

"A Mach 2 jet fighter son"

"Have we any left?

"Not flying" says I

Now have to take to Bruntingthorpe airfield where he can hopefully see one running with Full Reheat to see those "Dancing Diamonds"

Can I come?....(tugs at sleeve)......I promise to behave.
