Problems with Java Runtime on laptop

I've got a problem that I can't understand why it keeps saying it for. Everytime I try to run the timing and live control on my laptop, I keep on getting a notification coming up saying that I haven't got the current version of the java runtime software on my laptop when I have. I don't know if anybody else is having the same problem or it is just me having the problem. 

If people can help and want to know what I am using, I am using a windows vista laptop and I am using internet explorer 9. I have also tried it on google chrome and it works.

Richard, I used to have similar problems & it was caused by having more than one version of Java on my machine.

If you have more than one, you need to delete them all & do a fresh install of the latest version.

Ah right, I've only got the 1 version on. It is the Java 7 Update 40. That's what it took me to when I installed it tonight

Hi Richard, what is the exact error message you are getting?

I know some antivirus software can mess up the Java install, so you might want to try totally removing all Java installations from your pc, suspending your antivirus software and then getting a fresh download of Java and reinstalling. 

Also make sure you're downloading the correct version, there's help on this here http://www.java.com/en/download/faq/java_win64bit.xml

Java also have a test page at http://www.java.com/en/download/testjava.jsp to see if it's running properly. If you've tried totally removing Java and then reinstalling and it still doesn't work, there are links on this page that help you make sure Java is enabled in whatever browser you're using and through the control panel. 

If any of that doesn't make sense or you try it and it still doesn't work then let me know.

Hi Chris. I dont think that it is an error message now, i think it is just a notification but i cant be too sure. The message that I keep getting is "You need the latest Java (TM) Runtime Environment. Would you like to update now' 

Now, my antivirus that I use is AVG Free Edition 2014 and like I at the start, I use google chrome and everything seems to be fine as the windows are opening very well and there is no message coming up saying do you want to update. If this is happening on google chrome, it seems to me that i have got the right version of Java. It also worked last night as I had a race. There were no issues here at all last night

I have tried the test page out and something come up on my laptop saying that it has the full version.

I have tried everything you have said apart from downloading the version because my laptop has got the right version of Java on according to the test page

Sorry for necromancing, but this might help some people: If you have a 64 bit OS, you should have both the 32 and the 64 bit version of Java installed. Most browsers are still running on 32 bit and can't use 64 bit Java

I have the same problem that Chris described. It stsrted after a Microsoft IE 11 update. I already uninstalled Java 32 and 64, than re-instslled but the problem persists.
However, it works fine with Firefox and Chrome. This drives me into the conclusion that the problem resides in the IE, some non-compatibility with iGP sofware.

Hi Rui, I would actually think that your point could be right because like I put on the first post to start this thread off, I use Chrome and I have no bother  even though I tried using IE and it wouldn't work

I forgot to mention that the issue is with IE11 and Win7 64 bits.
I have two other PCs that are runing on Vista 32, IE (9 or 10, csnt remember exactly), in these both configurations iGP 2D runs finewith IE.
So, iGP staff have fun :)

Panda, that isn't what I have. I run 64bit Windows & I only have 1 installation of Java on my machine. I use IE & have not had any issues accessing any website

I use 32bit windows vista currently and ie 9 even though I have to use chrome for igp manager
