Who would you like to see wearing the red suit?
I am a Ferrari fan and personally don't like the idea of Carlos to join Ferrari, I think the scuderia should get a driver with more talent.
Nothing against Sainz but I do not think he would perform good in a top team.
Moreover, being Charles so fast yet so young,it can be a dangerous move to have an pair with little experience.
What do you think?

I think Ricciardo would be the ideal choice as he is an experienced race winner who they can still get plenty of seasons out of unlike Raikonnen or Hamilton who may retire in the next few seasons.

Ya I definitely like Ric. I don't know i fell like relying on Lec, even if he is fast, can be a double edged sword

Do they really need that many seasons out of their next driver? Schumacher and Shwartzman will be coming up fairly soon and Gio could probably be a good answer to Albon for the next few seasons. Ferarri can't make the mistake Red Bull made and have all of these drivers available, give them all away and then when they need them the most they aren't there!

Whatever they choose, I'm sure they'll take their time to negotiate and announce

In my opinion, Daniel Ricciardo would be the slightly better option out of all the names in the mix. Incredible fast driver, and exceptional overtakes (maybe the best overtaker in F1 now) as well as more experience than some other candidates.

The problem may be the salary demand. Between Ricciardo and Sainz Jr., the difference in salary will be around €20m-€25m, money that could make the difference when Ferrari make their final decision, especially with the new 2022 F1 regulations coming in (a lot of money will be spent on the new car designs)

And not to rule out..Eddie Jordan has predicted that it will be Lewis Hamilton who goes to Ferrari, from a while ago. Not sure how Eddie Jordan gets these infos, but he has a habit of getting it right, when it comes to insider knowledge! xD

yeah, i was thinking. What about a year slot for sainz? waiting for ham?
I don't know but i really would prefer ric. He can really perform well.
Among all those variables the one that makes me wonder more is the ferrari package for the next year. I am not so optimistic :/

In my opinion, I think whoever gets the Ferrari seat will be given a 2 year contract (2021 and 2022 F1 seasons) to take into account the crossover of the new F1 regulations. A 1 year only contract could see that driver get a lot of the inside information about how Ferrari are planning their brand new car for 2022, and then possibly leave, and another team will have all that Ferrari knowledge and information. Don't think many drivers would sign a 1 year only contract for a new team, a bit too risky for the driver with no guarantee of a job (or even career) if the move to Ferrari does not go well :/

For next year, and this year (when it does start), I think Red Bull will be the ones to watch out for. With stable regulations, the order on the grid, I think, will be similar to the end of last year, with Red Bull now appearing to have the 2nd fastest car, after gains on the aero and the engine side from Honda. Will be harder and harder to find the extra speed gains now, but with Adrian Newey and Honda in the team, they have the best chances of finding those extra gains!

I know this wont happen but i would love Fernando to come back to f1 and ferrari to try and win a 3rd world championship but i think his heart is set with winning the indy 500 at the moment

Paul DiResta coming back would be a stroke of genius. They may well take a punt on a young British driver if Paul isn't interested.

Yeah I agree about RB.
I think they will get stronger even because Honda has now a more solid background to work on.

About the possibility of one year slot, I didn't realize that. But now I am even more sceptical about signing Sainz ahahahah

My predictions are:
Carlos to Ferrari
Daniel to Mclaren
I'm not sure about Renault though cause I doubt Vettel would want to be in a midfield team.
Probably and F2 driver like Guanyu Zhou, or even crazier, Alonso.

Sainz it is. It personally came as a bit of a surprise to me, I was fully expecting Ricciardo, experienced, fast and reliable. From Sainz's POV though, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity, hardly feasible to turn Ferrari down. Just hope it doesn't turn out bad for him, he was on a promising upward trajectory at McLaren. Ferrari have options too though, just a few years till we see Shwartzman or Schumacher in Ferrari.

In my opinion one of the main causes that pushed Ferrari into choosing Sainz over Ric is the personality. I mean, the scuderia comes from a year where Vet and Lec battled together and more than one time they lost points as team in the attempt to gain personal results. Sainz can be a solution to that problem while Ric (in my opinion) not.
