So I get the new update, the most well developed car with good fuel economy will do well in quali. But my car seems the most developed and has the best fe..... I am 20-21 in the soft runners. It has ruined another race. I drove a ****** brilliant race for me. Perfected my push levels. Except due to other factors it was a pointless run again..... if I wasn’t that far back in the first place..... is quali still random completely random then? It is a JOKE

Hi Luke,

I can confirm qualifying is NOT random with the new update.

The way fuel economy affects your qualifying is that the higher the fuel economy stat the less fuel will be needed to complete your qualfying lap, it dosent necessarily mean you will qualify well because your fuel economy is good. Drivers also choose the amount of fuel they wish to take on their lap so its possible they can underfuel and qualify lower than expected - but as your drivers seem to be together i doubt that is the case.

The chances are your car is not as well developed to the rest of the field and/or others have a better fuel economy than you :-)

for what I have seen the fuel saving in qualifying has little importance even after the update, the difference is noticeable if the gap exceeds at least 30 points otherwise the qualifications are still done with the same liters of fuel .... therefore also if fuel economy matters, it is not a factor that has much impact on time.

I’m sorry but let me reiterate, my car development is one of the strongest in the league with some of the best fuel economy in the league Peter!

Wait... How do drivers decide how much fuel to run on?

I assume you are talking about FZW? It is difficult to expect your car to be one of the strongest while losing 0.2-0.5s in qualification.

Please show a screenshot of your research table where it is possible to confirm that you have one of the strongest.

I experimented with fuel eco during last 5 races or so. I should have put my remaining points to downforce instead, at least when it came to qualification. Fuel economy only helped in terms of race strategy as I was able to keep up with others thanks to lighter car. I fail to see how by current standards anyone would choose fuel eco to invest in if they want to have a faster car in qualification. Fuel Eco definitely is not better than main 3 and it was not as good as downforce in Italy.
