At the danger of asking a dummie question: is there any difference in sun and overcast when it comes to the tyre choice?
I never notice a difference between lets say Abu Dhabi at 30 degrees sun vs 30 degrees overcast. Which makes me think: does the race engine take this into consideration?

Is there a difference (or do we merely think track temperature is imbedded into the race engine)

In my opinion, track temperature is important because it dictates how tyres will warm up. The higher track temperature, the higher tyre temperatures can be with same push level.

Answering your question, I don't think engine wears more because track temperature is hotter. In fact, I think it wear less in higher temperature races because we use lower push levels (needs testing).

Thx for the insight, Gustavo. The question i intended to ask though: does the race algoritme take sun or overcast into the equasion, does it effect track temperature or is it maybe more simple then we presume and its just the degrees we should look at?

The following answer might not represent game truly reality, as we can only deduct what is happening inside simulation from our racing experience.

It only takes into account track temperature. So, I don't care weather race is sunny or overcast, as long as it stay dry!
Weather can change so quickly that I've already seen a sunny weather race ending raining =)

Excuse me for going off-topic now, but I think it's nice to share that in old iGP we used to have wind speed. I can't tell its effect during race because I didn't have time to test it.
