Ok so here’s a pet peeve of mine. When doing the setup for the next race I usually start with a lap on the SS tyres, then do a lap on 3 other tires and then my final lap again with the SS. Funny thing is that although the setup is always perfect by the 5th lap, the time is oftentimes slower than the first lap when the setup was no where near perfect. Stupid if you ask me.

Easy solution:  Worry less about the lap times themselves and focus more on the fuel used and tire wear.  There are times I've been outside top 20 in practice, and qualified in the top 5.  Other times, I was 1-2 in practice, only to have neither car start in the top 10 or 15, even when using the same tire compound as the polesitter.  Unless you're practicing on a wet track with the water level at one of its crossover points, the time can be ignored.

Just put it down as driver mistakes. I can set my car for the pefect setup on the first run and by the 5th run, time can be different by up to 0.5 secs on each run. It can be as much as 1 second on rare occassions and thats with a top driver.  To be honest I think its just for getting your fuel economy right
