What did you try to do?
My Chief Designer had 1 race left on his contract, I already had bid in on new one. After race today it appears that it let him go, hired a level 1 and then did spying for race. Net loss of about 12 design points.

I do not care about the design points, I just wanted clarification on the sequence of events for future reference.

This has been mentioned before and it seems the sequence of events is that contracts are processed before calculating research and, of memory serves correctly, before banking next season design points. So not only have you lost out on research for the next race, you may well find that at the beginning of next season you are also one dp down in all 8 design attributes.

I'm fairly confident but not 100% certain of the next season issue, so it would be great if you can confirm this is the case when you find out.

BTW, it's not actually a bug as such so I will move this thread to Help & Support because it will be useful information for others.
