Hey guys,
Back in the game after a looong time out, was just wondering what the effects of upgrading your DRS and Kers are?
I imagine Kers is probably the easier to explain, does the battery gain an extra 5 seconds in the race per level lets say?
I’m just interested to know if there is a known upgrade to it, rather than it just being “better” at a higher level

Hello George and welcome back.
Upgrading your DRS makes more 'powerful'. A team with Level 20 DRS will gain more time in the DRS Zone than a team with Level 1 DRS.
Upgrading KERS, means that you will have more KERS in the race. The battery will still show 100%, but that 100% will last longer for a team with level 20 team over a Level 1 KERS team.

That makes sense, I was just curious if it was that or there was a definitive amount that you know you’d be gaining from an upgrade.
Would 1 or 2 levels difference make a substantial difference from experience?

Hello,
The time gained from each upgrade depends on how you use your KERS, and how often you can get within DRS range. For example, using KERS one way, may be better than using a different KERS strategy at certain circuits.
As for the difference gained from upgrade DRS and KERS, in my opinion, they are the most important thing to develop in Headquarters (closely followed by Design).

Yeah I completely understand the usage side of it all. It’s interesting you place it with such high importance and even above design! I’d done quite a lot of reading on this kind of stuff already but I appreciate the input!
