What did you try to do?
Bid on a TD in Transfers.
What happened instead?
In "Transfers", the "buy now" button is shown as green and clickable when a bid has already been placed by another manager. This seems to happen only when your own cash balance is negative.
If you click the "buy now" button at this juncture, the investment screen pops up and prompts you to pay tokens for cash. If you buy cash and your cash becomes positive as a result, then the "buy now" button turns grey (inactivated).

Yes. I reproduced it on 2 accounts, both of which started with negative account balance.
