Hi,
My friends and I have a private league as rookie.
However, most of us got the level 9 and we started to take a ballast.
As it wasn't clear why we took the additional weight, we discovered the maximum level 8 for rookies.

Considering we are a small league with 6 competitors, what happens if we turn on the promotion option?
Only the 3 winners will be promoted, or all competitors with level higher than 8, or everyone?

We're afraid this change could ruin our league.

Thanks, Roger

Hello,
If promotion is turned on, there needs to be 16 teams 8 teams for promotion to work.
Anyone that places in the top 2 teams get promoted at the end of the season regardless of their level. However, should the tier not have the required amount of teams mentioned above, promotion will not take place.

Exceptions to the promotion rule:
In the first season of a new league, 4 teams are promoted instead of 2.
In the 2nd season of a new league, 3 teams are promoted instead of 2.
From the 3rd season onwards, 2 teams are promoted, should the league comply with the conditions mentioned above.

NOTE: The numbers mentioned in this post relate to a 2 car league. If you are in a 1 car league, they will be slightly different.

Hi Connor,

thanks for your reply.

What would happen to the ballast?
As we only have 6 teams (2 cars league), will we stay as rookie increasing ballast?

Tks

Hello,
If you remain in the Rookie tier, you will continue to get ballast until you get promoted.

To quote the FAQ>Technical Regulations>Ballast

"Ballast is used in leagues to handicap teams which exceed the regulated performance for the tier (see 3.1 below for more on levels). In leagues, ballast is added as 1kg per level exceeding the tier level cap plus one additional kilogram. For example: a team that is 3 levels over the tier level cap would carry 4kg of ballast (3x1+1), a team that is 7 levels over would use 8kg (7x1+1) and so on."

Hi Connor,

lastly, if our league doesn't meet the conditions for promotions, how could we change from rookie to pro?
Is it possible to promote all 6 competitors to pro directly?
It would keep the whole group in the same tier, with no ballast.

Thanks again

Hello,
The support team used to do manual promotions, but they stopped this service due to an increasing number of requests.
You could try filling the league with secondary/spare accounts, in order to boost numbers and promote yourself.
Alternatively,  you could advertise your league on the Leagues + Events subforum to see if other managers want to join and therefore bump the Rookie numbers up.

We are a small group of friends.
I'm not sure if we would like to advertise our league.

Anyway, is it still possible to write to the support team, and check if we're eligible to a manual promotion?

Many thanks for your help!

Hello,
If you want to contact the support team, you can submit a ticket by pressing the button between settings and log out on the main iGP page. However, I cannot guarantee that they will grant your request.
